Wow! Never in a million years would I think I would be here on this stage right now. Getting my diploma...maybe but giving the valedictorian speech to the amazing co' 2k15.... I must've done something right in the last few days here at Salem because it's been rough. Coming into high school was a shock to us all. No harsh dress code...no lines...no silent lunch; We had less rules and restrictions so we were all revved up and ready to get BUCK WILD! (Or at least I was) Until of course the first day came and I got lost on the same staircase several times. That was quite interesting. But anyway…I believe I can speak for us all when I say our amateur fantasies quickly vanished and reality set in. high school was absolutely NOTHING I thought it would be. The classes were longer, the building was colder, the teachers were a lot less lenient, and Dr.Williams was soooo loud! I just knew I wouldn’t make it, but thank god I was wrong! I’ll never forget the enthralling perils, both good and bad, we all shared in Mr. Wisdom’s 4th period class. From the launching of paper balls and powerades to the reenactments of high school musical scenes….let’s just say that our learning environment never had one dull moment! Of course we paid for it big time in 10th grade am I right? Everyone had tons of catching up to do. We all fell behind at least once within our high school experience. But all that matters is that we never stopped trying. Lucky for us we had a select few of teachers who never stopped believing in us. So I would like to take this time to recognize them. To Ms. Brassard you taught me that knowing everything did not make me a good student but merely attempting to learn the material is. You also taught me that attitude is everything and a pretty face is absolutely nothing with an ugly personality. You gave me the best thing a student could ask for out of an educator, HOPE. I finally possess beauty on the inside and I thank you for that. To Ms. Starling you were never obliged to stay after school practically teaching me entire lessons from other classes but you did. Even when you had no space in your schedule you always found time for me. Ms. Purvis we bumped heads EVERY class period. There is not one time I can say that we didn’t but, I can say that you stayed on my back. You were so annoying but you taught me never to settle for just exceptional; that there is nothing wrong with pushing the lines of over achievement and I appreciate you for that that. You know what they say right? Always save the best for last! (Lol) jk! Last but certainly not least to Ms. If you had AP lit for b3 you know who I’m referring to. I went an entire year rarely, almost never, addressing this woman by her name. She was the sweetest and from her unorganized and chaotic shelves to her intriguing antics during our lessons Ms. Was by far the most amusing teacher of them all. She made learning fun for me and taught us that being smart isn’t a crime and that we should use our powers for good. Thank You! I gravely appreciate you all!
(Wipes sweat) Now let’s get back to business. Our class is smarter than we all can fathom and we all have such big plans. I am standing before doctors and lawyers actors and entertainers clowns and comedians pro athletes and much more. There is nowhere else left to go but up from here. One day someone will refer to all of us as their hero! So for the rising freshmen for years to come my advice to all of you: 1.expect the unexpected. 2. Pack extra clothes in your back packs and 3.forget about every corky comment or smart remark you’re older siblings have told you about high school. It really isn’t all that bad once you get the hang of it. You just have to get out there put your pride aside and WERK! W…walk into to every situation with an open mind…E…enjoy your youth while appreciating all opportunities being placed in front of you…R…recognize your faults and mistakes and learn from them…K…know that all things are possible. There are footprints on the moon. That goes for all of you as well! As I close I would like to share something with you that my grandma shared with me. “As the World Turns”, we remain stationary watching the “Days of Our lives” slowly but surely pass us by. We are somehow cemented in “Another World” during “The Edge of Night” in “Search for Tomorrow”. We have “One Life to Live” so we all must be sufficient with the “Love of Life” Although “The Young will eventually become and the Restless” we must invoke our “Guiding light” because only “The Bold and the Beautiful” persevere after “The Secret Storm”

During school when 7th period rolls around we stare at that clock waiting for the bell to go off. High school is a fun time and part of your life that you won’t want to let go. Not only do you want to leave, but the fear of graduation is holding you back. In the movies the seniors can’t wait to graduate, but in life it’s not like that we don’t want to graduate as it may seem. It just means that we have to grow up and not be so childish and immature. We will have to get real jobs and not stay out till 4 O’clock on a Friday night because you will have to take everything seriously.…

Growing up we all looked forward to starting high school, but how many of us enjoyed every bit of it? High school was a moment that I looked forward to; thoughts of doing what I finally wanted to flood my mind. In June 2008, I received my GSAT result and was delighted when I saw that I passed for the William Knibb Memorial High School; although a bit disappointed because it wasn’t on my top five list. High school was not everything that I expected. In a few days, I met a few nice people. The first week of school was amazing, but after a few weeks things started getting intense. High school; however, was no bed of roses, especially when it came onto the subjects, reports, and school rules.…

High school is supposed to be the best years of a teenager’s life and for me it was. The first high school I ever attended was Eldorado high school, home of the Sundevils. The first day of my freshman year I woke up to my mom’s voice that morning, “Get up!” she yelled from my room door. It was the perfect morning, the smell of pancakes and bacon coming from the kitchen and my dad ironing my clothes before he goes to work. The first day of my freshman year was just like any other freshman’s. I walked to each of my classes nervously in those crowded and long hallways but mostly filled with excitement because I knew there was a lot of exciting adventures to come. After the first couple of months I was no longer a random girl that walked the wall ways. Everyone I associated with called me Nayynayy, that nickname stuck with me throughout my whole high school career.…

One thing people have always told me is that I remind them of the person Randall Cobb from the book game changers. He has one of the most creative and unique personalities. He is passionate for the game of basketball by working hard on his time. Randall is also talented in the subjects math and science by pushing himself to make good grades. He also thrives to help people even if it's with school work, personal problems, or on the basketball court. All in all he was almost exact the same person as I am he likes basketball, he helps others, and he does well in school.…

Good morning/afternoon teachers and my fellow classmates. Check it off. Yea, that’s right guys, check it off! Check off the box that says, ‘Raina Doshi’, and vote for me to represent you. Graduation is one of the many occasions that bring both a smile and tears to a student. Being the Valedictorian in a graduation ceremony is utmost honour. And I would like to hold that honour. But why, I hope you’re all wondering should we check it off? Why choose her and not any of the other thirteen people up here. It’s because I know, and deep inside your heart you do too, that I can do the best job representing our student body. I’ve been going in front of crowds ever since I was singing the ABC’s. Being in numerous piano recitals and talent shows have given me the experience to stand before an audience. Even in school, I’ve been MC for assemblies. I am known as a smart and well-rounded person. My grades this year have more often than not been in the high 80s and 90s. Moving on from my academic achievements, I am also involved in our school community. I am a part of Helping Hands, and I hang with a grade 1 student during nutrition breaks. He’s a child quite different from others who requires special help and attention. I work with him almost everyday. Furthermore, I have already represented our school well at the Future Leaders Development Workshop back in April. Last Fall, I was the new kid. I didn’t know anyone and had no friends. Yes, you might call me a loner, but no one did that. This school gave me the opportunity to fit in. I made lots of incredible friends and memories that I’ll forever cherish. The point is this place has given me so much, I feel obligated to give back and represent it. Thank you all for listening. I hope you will consider me to emblematize you. And don’t forget to check it…

The last time I remember something as huge as starting in high school was having to move to Oregon from Alaska, but for better or for worse, here I am, attempting to make my mark on this big blue Earth. However, Highschool was never always just peaches, cream, rainbows and unicorns. If I’m to be one hundred percent honest here, I was legitimately terrified of it, whether it be the totally reasonable fear of being stuffed into a locker by a bully or getting lost in a labyrinth of corridors and passages of infinite classes and broom closets. But those fears never truly emerged up until the final days of freedom that remained from my graduation of 8th grade. As the days drew nearer, so did my fear reaching the brim of a breakdown. I was scared,…

As a class, we have endured changes throughout the years from being split up in the classroom ( Port Allen on one side and Erwinville on the other) as if we were on the bus with Rosa Parks to being untied, from having a teacher and coming back from Christmas break wondering who was going teach us geometry, a change in administration, down to dances from the dougie to “jiggin” and now to dabbin. Through it all I am glad to say we made it; we survived ebola, Oscar Proud, the Predator, Maleficent. Ms. Morgan’s test, Ms. Roger’ solid advice, and the King of Shade worksheets Mr. Seal’s himself. Also for some of you relationship after relationship. All of these good…

It was the fall of 1984; I was a senior in high school, this wasn’t a new school for me. Getting to school that morning proved to be very exciting, entering the doors at Hanau American High, this was going to be my last first day of school there. We were all excited to see each other, although we may have seen each other during the summer, for the most part some of my fellow classmates lived an hour away from me. This time I walked in with my head held high, I was a senior. Excited about starting my senior year, this at the time was supposed to be the best school year of my life. There was so much to look forward too, and really knowing deep down that this school year was going to fly by and we would all be headed in opposite directions.…
