The Mexican-American war stared in 1821 after Mexico won its independence from Spain, thus allowing American settlers to move into the newly unoccupied territory. The Victorians of the war, were the Americans. After the war came to an end, Mexico signed the treaty of Guadalupe hidalgo. In the treaty Mexico agreed to give 500,000mi to the U.S., while the united states paid Mexico $15 million. There are many different point of views towards the Mexican-American war. The United states was not justified by going to war with Mexico because, they fought for what belonged to Mexico in the first place. And they used the belief of Manifest Destiny to overspread our country ignorantly.

The overtaking of Mexican land through the belief of Manifest Destiny, and starting war for somethings that already belonged in their place were reasons that America was not justified by going to war with Mexico. We should be ashamed of America going to war with Mexico because no matter how much you can try to make this sound like a wonderful victory for the Americans it really wasn’t. All the death and theft and cruel things brought upon both sides for reasons that could have been solved another way is something we should be ashamed of. America has accomplished so many great things throughout history. This is not one of them. But let it be something we learn from to create a better
