The revolution began on November 20, 1910 and mainly ended in November 1940, leaving Mexico in a depressed state. It started because of corruption and poverty. The people wanted democracy. The lower class people were treated unfairly and the middle class was unhappy since all the money was going to the higher ups and was not distributed properly. The middle and low class had to grow cash crops that they couldn’t even benefit from. So, they established a liberal democracy.

The positive effects were that Porfirio Diaz, the government and army were replaced by the country’s new economic and social system. This helped workers with their job and salary. Many organizations and labor unions were recognized and promoted. The negative effects of the revolution was that Mexico had lost part of their land because President James K. Polk wanted the land of some Northern Mexican territories. So, Mexico and America went to war because Polk wanted to expand the U.S. territory by the manifest destiny doctrine. Mexico however, lost the war, so America gained some of their land, which was everything west of the rio grande.
