What Does Music Mean To Me
Music Has the Power to Move Mountains

Music is the one factor in my life that makes my world continue to turn. I was introduced to all different genres of music at an early age. In the second grade, I was placed on a learning disability. I was not as fast a reader as everyone else and was always in the slower reading groups. Music was my way that I could escape all the pressures that I had in school. Having a song to enjoy helped me to realize that I would always have to try just a little more than others because most things were not going to come easily to me. Through listening to music, I have become the person that I am today. Music is a positive influence to help with my inner struggles. To begin with music helps me through many of the struggles in life that I have. I get nervous about things, get really down on myself, also have a very hard time coping with my emotions. Just listening to music helps me more than playing and instrument or singing. Country music helps me with my nerves because I can listen to a song that makes me happy and it takes away some of the nerves. Really focusing on

Music helps me to get pumped and ready for any activity that I may have done. Such as, I listen to music before every one of my races in swimming, before most of my tests and, before any big speeches or any big projects. Music of all types helps me to get ready for whatever problems that are thrown my way. Listening to cheerful music before my race allow me to get in the right mind set to swim. Before speeches slow music helps me to remember what to say and to stay focused and excited to present. I have bad test anxiety, so having the comforting sound of slow music before the test or while studying for it tends to help when I take the test and I almost become excited to take the test because I know I can do it.
