“All dreams are worth chasing, all you have to do is keep moving towards them.”
-Viola Davis
Viola Davis’ quote was arguably one of the most inspirational moments of the 2017 Super Bowl. This Honda commercial featuring many famous people including Jimmy Kimmel and Tina Fey used these famous peoples’ yearbook pictures to help you develop emotions about the advertisement. Honda was implying that if you buy a Honda then it will help you accomplish your dreams. By using the yearbook pictures they are showing that when you set a goal, if you persevere, then you will accomplish it. It doesn’t just come naturally.
Since it was a Honda commercial and Honda creates cars, the demographic that they were advertising could only apply to people. Certain people that are at the age of getting a new car or purchasing a used car from a Honda dealership. Honda’s cars favor no certain gender, so their cars are for everyone. This is the same with people of all ages who have a license. My brother has his learner's permit and is about to receive his license. His car is a Honda CR-V, which is the car that is coincidentally advertised in the commercial. He enjoys his car very …show more content…
much and this proves that you don’t have to be a specific age or gender to like a Honda CR-V, or any Honda for that matter.
This Honda ad used a variety of appeals to make you buy their product from the sensitivity appeal to endorsement appeals.
They used the sensitivity appeal when they were saying motivational things that made people emotional. One of the quotes, like the one above, quoted by Tina Fey started the commercial out to a good start. The words that Tina Fey used were inspirational and was pure evidence of the emotional/sensitivity appeal. This commercial used a lot of the endorsement appeal because of all of the celebrities. Viola Davis and the rest of the celebrities weren’t really talking about the Honda, but their pitch seemed to sell the product. All of these appeals made me want to buy the product even though I don’t have twenty thousand dollars of spare cash or a driver's
license.
When I saw this commercial it automatically became my favorite commercial. It was very effective on me because it talked about setting goals and I have a lot of goals, like being president of the United States and becoming a bestselling author. This commercial seemed to give me more confidence that I will accomplish those dreams because these famous people accomplished theirs. As I said in the article if I had the money and a driver's license I would buy a Honda. Ironically, I am very hard to please, but this commercial really got to me and it was probably the same with other people. Honda was trying to sell us selling our dreams. Why not try a Honda? You have nothing to lose.
