Why Canada Is Important To Me
Canada has been around for 151 years and has learned from its mistakes and developed into a great country. Canada has played an important role in making the rights and freedoms that we have. John Peters Humphrey, a canadian and the director of the United Nations Human Rights Division was instrumental in making up the rights and freedoms that we have. Canada also kept Great Britain's idea of government because it worked so well and gives the everyday person a say in government. Countries with democratic governments are more peaceful because one person can’t decide that today they want to start war whenever they want. Canada is known for being a very peaceful and kind country because we say sorry a lot and help out other countries solve problems. …show more content…
The right to life protects us by ensuring that no one can kill us. We all deserve to live and with life we can try to make the world better and stop atrocities that take the lives of so many. If someone could just kill anyone they wanted without reason you could never feel safe. Also, the right to food and shelter allows us to own a home and food. Not everyone has food or a home but they all deserve one. In an ideal world no one would be without food and shelter because of that right. Additionally, the right to be educated is very important to keep us safe. Uneducated people don’t know how to read or do math which can get them a job to earn them money to pay for food and shelter. They resort to other means to get money which some are dangerous and ruin our safety. Our rights and freedoms protect us from dangerous …show more content…
We can vote for government to influence them in the way we want and get our view to the government. Specifically we vote for MPs to tell the government in power what they should do or what the opposition should be doing to make the government mess up. The government can then make votes on what the people want and their ideas become realities. We can also live our own lives without governments watching our every move. Governments such as a communist government don’t allow people to get far in life because of their income. Income is managed by the government and can’t do much with your money because you cannot own your own stuff. Communism allows the poor to get more money but the rich lose income. Communism only gives the government power over everyone’s money. Our government makes laws to protect us. Those laws keep us safe because crimes are what society believe are wrong so we vote on laws and they become laws to make sure that people don’t do it. If we didn’t have laws none of your property, money, or even your life would be safe. Laws don’t always deter those who don’t care about the consequences but it ensures that people can know them and think before they do something wrong. Without a democracy opinions don’t get out and governments make their choices without

Over the course of its history, Canada has progressed immensely regarding its autonomy. Starting out as just a colony of Great Britain, Canada was in the control of the overarching British Empire. However, Canada now has emerged as a sovereign state, in control of its own future. A major contributing factor to Canada ultimately reaching autonomy has been its participation in war and peacekeeping efforts. Contributions made in war efforts such as WWI and WWII have allowed Canada to demonstrate just how influential and powerful the country can be. Even though Canada entered WWI under the order of Great Britain, Canada’s showing at the battle of Vimy Ridge helped it emerge as a more independent country, gaining its own seat in the League of Nations. After participation in World War Two, Canada once again progressed in independence and earned the right to be a founding member in both NATO and the UN. Along with wars, Canada has made many contributions to peacekeeping. Canadian Prime Minister, Lester B. Pearson, is considered a founder of modern peacekeeping after his efforts in the Suez Canal Crisis during the Cold War Era.…

Canada can be described as a cultural mosaic with kind people, a strong economy, great Prime Minister and social and legal equality, making it great to be Canadian. Predominantly, I believe it’s great to be Canadian due to our abundance of land and changes to it, our Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and our growing multiculturalism. Primarily, Canada’s landmass and changes is behind its national success. The vastness of Canada supplies multiple natural resources, provides a home for thousands of immigrants and Canadians and even survived economic stagnation in the 80’s and 90’s.…

This country is filled with people from different cultures and backgrounds, which is why it is sometimes called a ‘ cultural mosaic’. Being a cultural mosaic means that we allow every culture to keep their identity instead of telling them to conform to a certain way of life. The people…

Canada has been in the United Nations group since 1945, and still continues in the United Nations group today.(NATO 2013) To show Canada is a peacekeeper an example is the Bosnian conflict, Rwanda, Suez Crisis and the Israel-Palestine conflict and how they had a big help and support during these multiple conflicts. Canada supports multiple nations with support for multiple things for example, war, peacekeeping missions, (etc). Canada serves as a peacekeeper and as a warrior depending on the conflict that lies ahead of them.…

By being previouslly exposed we are capable of being more welcoming when we see an outside culture. This has been a major benefit when it comes to contact with other cultures from around the world. Because of Canada's acceptance, countries who are marginalized are better able to find refuge with us. Canada is a safe haven for those in war torn countries which allows us to connect more of the world together and become more unified with the rest of the world. Without these laws put in place by the government the global harmony we currently have would be not near as prominent, Canada has made peace with other countries and allowed for unity to make way into a more global…
