The school board president presides over the meeting. He keeps it flowing and asks for approval of each action. The meeting allows the public to be apart of the first half of the meeting, but the decision of hiring and financial items are in a closed meeting, then they we reopen the floor and allow the public back in to ask questions or comment. When the public is there, they are well spoken and polite to one another and don’t speak out of turn. During closed meetings tensions can run hide depending on the topic. Often when tensions get high there is a mediator in the group that calms them down and has them take a step back from the problem. If this doesn’t help solve the problem after an open discussion the issue might be tabled until the following months meeting. Behind the scenes they are always looking for new opportunities to help all the different types of students. The Junior High has a business program that many people do not know about. Students in this program listened to business proposal and chose one that they think will most help the student body. They have some students working on reopening the greenhouse that is on the school property as well as redoing the courtyard so it can be used more often. The administration is looking into fun programs that help student with social and life skills that they may not be getting at home, because many of our students come from broken
