Why I Chose Nursing Scholarship
As I mentioned in a previous question, I was not allowed back into the nursing program at La Salle. With that being said, I have been trying to get accepted into an accelerated nursing program. It has not been an easy task so far. I have gotten rejected by about three schools and I have about three more schools in New Jersey to hear from still. Here it is almost time for graduation and I have no clue where I am going or even what I am going to do in my future now. In times like these I have called upon my parents, grandparents, cousin and the family I babysit for. It’s safe to say that most of my support comes from my family. Without their help I would probably still be lost as anything figuring out my life. My parents and grandparents have constantly told me that no matter what happens whether it be …show more content…
She told me that an accelerated program would be hard, but I could get it done if I concentrated and put my mind to it. Even the family I babysit for has helped me along this journey and I couldn’t be more happy. They have four children who I babysit for and every time they have their friends over they always say that I am a nurse and I can take care of them if they get hurt. This gives me a little bit of motivation knowing that I could continue my education with nursing and I have a lot of support to help me through this process. The children were actually the ones who have helped me a lot throughout this whole process because I love them so much and they look up to me knowing that I am a smart girl who can get through anything. They helped shape my view on the world knowing that these children are the ones who make me happy and believe in me just as much as my family does. Going through this experience was definitely not easy, but I am hanging in there still hoping that I get accepted

There are many events that pushed the colonist towards a revolution, including The French and Indian War, the Boston Massacre, the Boston Blockade, and the Intolerable Acts. However, from the British perspective, should these events have been enough to force the colonies to revolt? Also, in the world we live in today, how would a similar event be perceived? Would everyone cheer the independence of a people from an oppressive rule, or would they see it as treason?…

I want to go into the pediatric nursing field for many reasons. I really enjoy working with kids especially little children. Volunteering at a saturday school with 4-5 year olds I became very good and comforting a child when sad or lonely. I work well with little children and enjoy being with them. I also want to go into nursing because every time I go to the doctors I always feel as if the nurses there do not enjoy their job. Which is probably wrong but they just always seem so monotone. I am half japanese so every summer when I go over to Japan and need to go to the doctors, the nurses there are always smiling trying to ease the tension between the child and the nurse themselves and that is the kind of nurse I want to be. I want to be a nurse like that in America to show people how much of a difference it could make and could lead to less fear of the doctors office. I see…

“To me the distinguishing characteristic of professional nursing is clinical thinking, every patient, whether well, getting sick, being sick or getting well has the right to a nurse who by virtue of this clinical thinking, manages the nursing care and is accountable for that care.” It would be a blessing to be a student of a prestigious program that was founded by the honorable late Ms. Dorothy M. Smith. Her aspiration and dedication to the program to feed and educate hungry minds is phenomenal. Being a former biology major, I was never enthusiastic as I am being a nursing major. Nurses are the glue that holds hospitals, clinics and nursing homes together. Desiring a Bachelor of Sciences in nursing, I plan to hold a position as a RN. Furthermore, I will continue my education to gain a doctorate in nursing. Attending University of Florida’s nursing program to achieve my career goals is a dream of an aspiring nurse. With the University of Florida’s academic standing, student involvement, comfortable environment and cheerful staff, being a part of the program is a beneficial plus. Entering college, my goal was to graduate with a Bachelor in biology and then attend medical school, to pursue a career as a pediatrician. However, a few complications arouse and that goal was short-lived. I am always told; never give up, on yourself and your dreams. Itching for the need to stay in the medical field, I decided on nursing. Deciding to get both my bachelors and masters rather than only my bachelor was the best decision I made. I decided on becoming a Neonatal Nurse Practioner. My career goal will not be achieved easily. It is a guaranteed package of gray hair, sweat, stress, gallons of Starbucks and dreams of my bed. I can be certain that I will be pushed to my limit to become the best nurse I am capable of being so that I am able to care for my patients the best way that I can. Previously having attended University of Florida, there was not a day I regretted saying yes to…

I decided that nursing wasn’t the path I wanted to go on and started…

I knew that I would be a good nurse. I was loving, kind, thoughtful, a good communicator, liked helping people, I was caring, and I also liked math and science. The Journal of Nursing Education states, “researchers found the concepts of caring and nurturance were identified as high motivators for choosing nursing” (Williams, Wertenberger, Hames, Gushuliak, 1997). At that time, I was working back office at a Urology office and was going to school. I decided one day that to be able to provide for my daughter if something were to happen between my husband and I that I could always support us. Therefore, my journey began.…

In conclusion, the temperance movement was a very important influence that, for the most part, was positive. same as the women’s right movement. Some influences did not always have the desired effects on the population, as there were still good people that went out and got drunk and smuggled alcohol, but overall there were still some social changes that were positive and are still seen today. Not only did temperance groups support women’s rights, but they also helped to even start the idea that women have a voice.…
