NHS Application Essay
Being invited to join the National Honor Society is an honor itself. Being inducted into the NHS? Now that’s a whole different story. Since my freshman year, I have dreamed of joining the NHS. I have always envied the students who walked around every Thursday wearing the uniform. Since then, I have pushed myself to try harder in school. Now that I have the chance to be one of them, it’s something that I wont let slip. I want to be a part of the NHS because it would look great on a college application. It is one of the things I could prove to everybody that I am capable of achieving. Sometimes, I doubt myself so this is something that I can assure myself that I can achieve great things on my own. I know I’m not the perfect student, but I can prove that I am NHS worthy. …show more content…
Academically, I don’t really struggle.
There are times when I do fail at something, but I always figure out a way to fix that. I’m not that type of person that studies 24/7, more over you’d only catch me studying once in every while. But school is a big part of my life, and I’m grateful that my parents work hard everyday to send me a Catholic school. They’re one of my main inspirations as to why I work hard in school. One day I’d like to repay them for everything they did. I also like joining academic competitions because I love going to other places and representing my school. So far, I’ve only been in NHD and Speech Festival. For the next two years, I’m going to continue to try to go for Science Fair, Math Competition, and Young Writers because it’s also one of my goals to particiapate in every academic competition in high
school
Leadership is one of the skills needed to be a part of NHS, and I for sure know that I have that skill. Ever since elementary, I have taken many roles as a leader from as little as a group leader to a house captain to becoming the Student Body President in 8th grade. To be honest on the first day of my freshman year, I was scared to run for any kind of position because I wasn’t comfortable with the environment and regretted it immediately. I promised myself that I would run for a position my sophomore year, which is why I am an SGA Representative now. I actually like my job. I get to go to meetings and help plan school activities, then get together with my class and plan on whatever activity we’re about to have. Yes, I did fail at times with my responsibilities as an SGA Rep but I did learn from them and I always try to avoid repeating it.
If I were in the NHS, I would always offer my service when it is needed. I’m the type of person that would do anything just to help other people out. I haven’t done much to help out the community but I know getting into the NHS would help me improve in this area. It also been a dream of mine to help the needy but I’ve never really had a motivation to do so and I believe NHS can help me achieve this dream.
All in all, I would love to be a student in the National Honor Society because it will give me better opportunities to be a leader, participate in community services, and help and influence the people around me to become better people. The goals of the NHS and mine are similar. I would be proud to be a member of the NHS and would serve the Society to the best of my ability.
