Why I Deserve To Be Treated Equally Regardless Of Their Religious Beliefs
I believe everyone deserves to be treated equally and with respect regardless of their religious beliefs, gender identity, sexual orientation, social class, or political views. I am a middle-classed , democratic, gay atheist.

Just because I don't believe in God, doesn't mean I am not thankful for the life that I have. It doesn't mean I won't continue to do good deeds and acts of kindness. It doesn't mean I worship the devil, because I don't believe in his existence either. It doesn't mean I will no longer respect those who have different beliefs and opinions than me. I will only speak out if those beliefs and opinions are highly offensive and hurtful to myself and others.

I am still the same person I was before you read this. I still love

Marcee, you make a lot of interesting points. I have never thought about food justice until you mentioned it. It makes sense. I was food insecure too much as a child. My mother would sometimes run out of money for food at the end of the month. If my grandmother did not bring food or if I did not earn money helping people with groceries or going to the fast food store for neighbors we would have missed more food. Continue to stand for food justice. It is needed. Another point jumped out at me was "I remember being told of a story about the Church of the Resurrection when Adam Hamilton preached that the LGBTQ community had a home at COR and he lost a lot of being because of that. " Sadly, whether it LGBTQ a very important human rights…

I work in a residential home for Dementia for the elderly, some of the clients Dementia range from mild to severe. The clients are raised in a very different way to how I was raised and it is important that I must remember this and respect their this as we all have personal beliefs and preferences based on our background and upbringing. I have been brought up in a very mixed society but in a church of England school where religious education was compulsory, however we still studied various other religions and were taught to respect all people and there beliefs. Prayers were a daily thing at the end of each assembly and whether or not I wanted to pat attention to the prayer time again I had to respect the people that did. Religion may affect people in many different ways, mainly because we all come from different backgrounds and are taught differently. However, it is important to respect how people honour their religion. I am an atheist however I still make time to talk to my clients about their religion and sometimes have prayer time with them, and when possible I take the clients to church most Sundays, even though my own beliefs it is not some thing that I choose to do as I know it makes the client happy it makes me happy to do this as I know it is some thing that they feel so strongly in and it is amazing at how much I really now look forward to going to church with them. It is part and parcel of the work that I do and part of showing the clients that we care about what makes them happy and respect their beliefs even if ours are different.…

No one believed that people with different races, different religions, or different features should be around each-other. Well everyone except for one person, Martin Luther King Jr. He was brave enough to speak up, and say what he felt. He made a difference, he had a dream. A dream so amazing, he had to share out for other people to hear during a time like this. He made an inspirational speech for everyone to hear, for everyone to follow, for everyone to think. How they were living there lives then, it was most definitely not right. Why separate people with different cultures? We should all be proud of who we are, and who we are around. We should never feel threatened, or feel like we shouldn’t be able to be around people who have different religions than us. We are all human, we are all the same, inside and out. The one thing that The Jim Crow laws taught me was to never let yourself feel like you don’t belong, Jim Crow laws happened for a reason. It separated us, but this is the present. Everyone is equal and we all have the same rights, we aren’t in a world where we have to be afraid of being different. We’re in a world where it is okay to be…

I have a diverse group of friends, some who are homosexual, heterosexual, and bisexual. A majority of my homosexual friends are always telling me stories about how in work or classes many people glance over their ideas or opinions because of their sexual orientation. I cannot believe that their are still people in this world who discriminate against people just because they are attracted to someone of the same-sex. It is hard enough to be open about your sexual orientation, one should not have to hide in their work or school just so they can get the respect. I answered yes to this question because my classmates are coworkers do listen to my ideas and opinions and respect them even if they do not agree with them. Everyone’s ideas and opinions should be respected no matter who they love because we all…

Finally, I have the responsibility to show respect for other’s rights. Although I may have a different opinion than another person, this person has the same right as I do to express this opinion. If I were to deny them this right, or treat them differently because of what makes them different, it would be an act of disrespect not only to this individual, but to all of the people who made sacrifices to give them the right to be who they are, and act of disrespect towards everyone who has worked to make this country a place where people are accepted.…

I grew up with a gay, single mom so I have been raised with the idea that everyone is equal and deserves the same rights. Not everyone was raised in the same environment as me, so some don’t believe the same things as me. I’m not here to bash anyones morals or beliefs. But the people in the world who have negative, dividing mindsets, need to realize that those views do nothing but harm our society. The people who believe that one race is better than another need to understand that that is untrue and a very harmful mentality to have. There is only one race in the World: Human. Instead of being repelled by someone different, embrace their uniqueness, and learn from…
