Why Is Absolutism Necessary
Absolutism: one rule with total power controls peoples’ lives. To some, this may sound like a gift. Who wouldn’t want to maintain complete control? However, absolutism is not a gift, but a curse. A dream becomes a living nightmare. Every citizen is deprived of their freedom. They are practically slaves to the government. If the rights of humans fail to appeal to you, think of King Louis XIV, former ruler of France. Louis lived large, but with that came extreme debt & the later downfall of France. Kim Jong Un is also an absolute ruler, and although he can intimidate his subjects, his country is beyond poor. Besides the possible threat of nuclear weapons, North Korea is drowning in poverty. It has been proven that forty percent of the population of North Korea fall below the poverty line, and the average worker makes what would translate to $2 to $3 per month. When King Louis XIV held all the power over a massive country, he unknowingly submerged the country in debt. By taking tax money and turning it into a palace, he subsequently lost everything. As a result, France was forced to give up most of their lands.
People are deprived of every right, including natural rights. Try keeping an entire country happy after you take away their right to life, liberty, and property. Queen Mary I did. She tried to suppress the faith of Protestants by committing genocide. Now she lives in infamy as one of the bloodiest rulers England has ever known.
Without the freedom of the people, a country can never be successful. King Philip II attempted to go to war with England, however he didn’t have advisors to update his military. Hence he was demolished in the war by a fleet of much stronger ships, sent by a government aided by ministries.
