Why join the Coast Guard? The coast guard is the most promoted division of the military.The coast guard is only part time force of nearly 8,000 specially trained people who serve the Coast Guard. You serve one weekend a month and two weeks every year. This doesn't give you a good enough reason to join the Coast Guard, well the coast guard will pay for a lot of things for you. There is most definitely more benefits of the Coast Guard that without a doubt would change your mind for The great job. Coast Guard will pay up to 100% of your college Tuition, they will also pay for free health, dental and eye car. Free Health, Dental and Eye Care.You'll receive 2.5 days paid vacation per month, for a total of 30 days paid vacation a year.( "Receive Pay & Benefits as a Coast Guard Member." )You choose your career path based on your physical abilities, security clearance, motivation and determination.     It has been over thirty years since the first class of women cadets entered the United States service academies (Matthews 242). A lot of changes have occurred since then. The U.S. military has eased some of the restrictions that have kept women from the more dangerous operations and now allow them to be in the more perilous support roles (Ablow 1).
