Why Students Should Not Have School Lunches
Much of the joy and happiness that people remember when they think about their high school years comes from new-found freedom in it. So, extending to letting students leave school campus to go to lunch would only make sense. All schools should think about and very seriously discuss letting these students that can drive go to eat at restaurants or at home for lunch. Letting sophomores, juniors, and seniors with drivers licenses go off campus to eat lunch would make sense because much of what the school is providing cannot be eaten at school, it would give the students more freedom, and it would promote a better sense of maturity among the school’s population.

A central reason why people do not eat their food comes down to the taste of the food and whether the person like it or not. This is not to say that every person hates everything the cafeteria serves, but for the ones that do, they throw away their food. This is wasteful on an economic level because it is food that could have been given to someone else that would have eaten it. It isn't like the food gets use in another way, either it just gets thrown away to rot. So, if the students could go to a restaurant and not be forced to eat a school or bag lunch, this would not happen.

This more often than not leads students being happier with doing what they want. The students would be then happier with their freedom expanded. Everyone should and would be happier with the happier students on campus. They might even bring back something extra for the teacher

Students should be able to leave the school grounds and go to a fast food restaurant, or, if they choose should at least be able to go outside and eat. “So from eating out, we can also learn how to make wise choices.” This would make students prepared for college by enabling them to leave campus and eat what they want. This independence would get kids ready to face the real world. “It provides a semi-sheltered climate to allow students to grow and become responsible.” This would give teens the privilege of not being watched every second of the day. If students disobeyed the rules of when they should be back, they could take away the privilege or give punishment. There is saying, “If you give someone an inch they will take a mile.” This quote is a fantastic way of expressing how many people take advantage of situations where they are given room for flexibility. They may take these sorts of opportunities to benefit themselves by not working hard or complying with the rules. If RMHS had an open campus system allowing for students to leave for lunch, students would no doubt take advantage of the system which would create many problems within the school. An open campus would form the issue of students ditching their classes.
