1. Guide for students
1.1 What is in this workbook?
There are eleven core study units in this work book.
Each unit is carefully designed to include activities that help you to build on your knowledge of each area of skill that you are learning.
The workbook is structured in such a way to include:
♦ an introduction to each topic with clear objectives;
♦ careful sequencing of the materials so that there is a clear and logical progression;
♦ a step-by-step approach so that you will be able to understand each new point thoroughly before proceeding to the next one;
♦ numerous short examples which help to illustrate the ideas;
♦ many worked examples with an emphasis on understanding the methods and techniques;
♦ lots of opportunities for you to check that you understand what you have just read.
