As we were driving, out of nowhere was the biggest pothole you've ever seen, we couldn't avoid it and hit it straight on, the tire was completely blown. We pulled over into a small abandoned parking lot. ( Not in a very good area either). She decided to walk to the gas station down the road to see if they had a spare tire axel to change the tire while I stayed with her daughter. She came back with bad news, no axel. It was about 12:30 at night in a pretty bad neighborhood faced with calling a tow truck so we could get home (we had school in 6 hours.)
Out of nowhere an older man probably in his 50's-60's pulled into the parking lot along side us and asked us if we needed help. we both responded Yes! and went immediately to jump out of the car to help him change the tire. He instead told us both to stay in the car with the baby to stay warm, After he finished fixing the tire my friend and I were about to hand him $50 to say thank you.
Instead the man refused our money, and told us to get home safely. I never did see him again, or find out his name. But I will never forget that man or what he did for us that night.
