Lastly, some people will argue that the Airbnb regulation can have a negative impact on homeowners, travelers and the community alike. The supporters of the Airbnb claim that the ordinance will add more taxes and fees which may affect the income of thousands of homeowners who have a chance to make some extra money through short-term rentals (2). For many hosts, the money from Airbnb is the single source of income so it helps them to make their family budget. In addition, homeowners who rent their homes through Airbnb call the city has numerous ordinances to protect its residents. For example, the city of Chicago has noise, trash, parking, occupancy ordinances, and these rules only need to be enforced for all properties. Also, Airbnb operators show that their guests support local business by staying in areas, with significant spending they generated a great economic impact in Chicago, and a large number of visitors can animate the city, so it will not seems like ghost town when Chicago’tourist traffic is low (1).…

Moreover, Australia is facing neighbourhood fragmentation, displacement of long term rentals, decreased supply and increased price of houses which they are blaming on Airbnb. This is another example of economic environment factor affecting Airbnb. Personally, I feel these are changes in the right direction, but not sufficient. The business could be affected both positively and negatively: Negatively due to the host not agreeing to these changes; ultimately it is their home being rented to complete strangers, making the screening processes a need for them. Host not knowing who will be staying in their home may eventually lead to them completely leaving the company. Positively effects are mostly in effect to the consumer, no one should be discriminated against for whatever reason it may be so the ideology of being able to rent a home without having to submit to a background check, so to speak, is beneficial to all, especially those who in the past have been a discriminated against but still would like to use Airbnb services. It is my opinion Airbnb is not fully committed to these changes, they are committed to a temporary quick fix (affirmative action). Also if a host denies someone the ability they can still repost, just not the same day. This to me still shows some signs of discrimination, if you do not want to rent to someone for whatever reason they should not be allowed to repost at all. That same person that attempted to rent may later see that the option is available to others would definitely make someone feel unease and discriminated which is what Airbnb is trying to avoid in the first place. Also the percentage of future minority representation in the company is so minute, higher minority percentage should be hired. Within time I believe Airbnb will realize that it may not be enough there are two markets to satisfy: the consumer and the host, essentially they are both using Airbnb…

    1. When it comes to accommodations, we know the guest wants to know if the room the host posted satisfies his/her needs. Airbnb should provide a neutral system to rank the houses/apartments based on some standard criteria. The host can certainly brag about how good of the house is (e.g. location close to nearby grocery stores) but only those houses/apartments that satisfy the Airbnb standards can be "certified". For example, in addition to the number of positive/negative…
