Today there are many controversial arguments on whether or not animal testing should be banned. Every day, so many lives are saved by medicine, such as antibiotics, vaccines, etc. However, it has all come at the cost to so many innocent animals which suffer. I believe it is morally reckless to make torturous procedures on animals just so mankind can maybe have less pain. They are part of this world just like us humans. Most of the times, these experiments fail because animals have a different tolerance level from people and even if they fail, the animal is still has to be killed. It is animal abuse that people don’t care about, just to better humans health. Animals are not lab projects, they are living …show more content…
souls.
Animals that get tested on constantly get cut open, poisoned and caged for weeks, months, and sometimes even years.
They are locked in cages without any kind of socialization to normally follow their instincts. They are not able to play or run around and socialize with other animals. Because they are locked in there for so long, they become weak, sometimes it makes them more vulnerable to illnesses and diseases that can lead to death. It is cruelty and violence. Unfortunately, they do not have a voice to speak up like humankind, so all they can do is just suffer from pain quietly and wait until they can finally die to be free. Young rabbits are frequent victims for experiments. In a PETA article, it says, “rabbits are still tormented in the notorious Draize eye irritancy test, in which cosmetics, dishwashing liquid, drain cleaner, and other substances are dripped into the animals ' eyes, often causing redness, swelling, discharge, …show more content…
ulceration,
hemorrhaging, cloudiness, or blindness. The rabbits are killed after the experiment is over” (“Animals”).
Humans are part of the animal species, which means we should stand up for each other as a family.
Animals started living on this planet way before us. We are their guests. Somehow, we end up ruining their lives and their freedom just to please ourselves. Maybe we do not walk on four feet, but we are still animals. We are basically just a different breed. We have feelings, and the animals have them, too. They feel pain, love, loneliness, acceptance, denial, guilt just like us, yet we put them through such suffering. They can’t speak for themselves, nor they can’t tell us to stop. Just try to put yourself in their shoes and not being able to stop an experiment you were forced in.
Animals and humans react very differently to drugs. For example, tobacco contains neurotoxin that is deadly to horses. However, humans inhale it in their lungs and feel perfectly fine. Humans have medication for kids and adults. You would not dare give your kid an adult medication because the sideeffects might be negative. So why do we test the same medication on little animals like rats that are the size of our hands? Our body has more tolerance than theirs do, so if the testing has to be done, they can do it on humans who are willing to help
others.
Humans should have no right to interfere with a life of an animal. Even though it helps us figure out what medicines can save human lives, we should never sacrifice a life for a life. Mankind came from a unique breed of animals and we all have so many differences. Why would we want to hurt our brothers and sisters? Sadly, the biggest difference is that we can communicate and they can’t. Animals can’t tell us if they are hurt or to stop. No matter what, we need to realize they still have the same feelings we have. They shouldn’t be victims for experiments. No one ever should hurt someone just so they can attempt to feel less pain. Humans should test medicines on
humans instead of animals to get better results, anyways. Animals do not have as high tolerance level as humans do.
