Why Is Animal Testing Unnecessary

Throughout the world more than 100 million of nonhuman animals are being tested on in laboratories. They are put in cages, used, then killed for no good reason. People and animals are similar but not the same. There are better more humane ways to test for products such as cosmetics, skin care, and medicine. Testing on animals who would not have the same symptoms or sides effects on humans could bring unwanted and unnecessary results when given to humans. Cruel and unnecessary test are done on animals everyday. As many as 90% of animals that are being tested in labs are not counted in the official statistics of animals test. The animals are born and raised to be tested on for things they do not need or have. Researchers discovered that 92 percent of drugs tested on animals do not make it through phase one of trials on humans. No matter how many tests animals undergo, because of how unreliable animal testing is, it makes human trials even more risky ("Animal Testing Is Bad Science."). The diseases and infections forced into animals do not replicate naturally occurring illnesses. Researchers should focus more on preventing diseases before they occur ("Medical Testing on Animals Is Cruel and Unnecessary."). Some of the artificial diseases injected in the animals are ones that would not commonly infect humans, which is wasteful in time, supplies, the lives of many animals. “Physiological reactions to drugs vary enormously from species to species. Penicillin kills guinea pigs but is inactive in rabbits; Aspirin kills cats and causes birth defects in rats, mice, guinea pigs, dogs, and monkeys; and morphine, a depressant in humans, stimulates goats, cats, and horses” ("Animal Testing Is Bad Science.").
