Argumentative Essay: Four Day School Week
Statistics show that 91%of students and teachers believe that having a four day school week is better than a regular school week. 91% is more than half of the students and teachers and only 9% disagree. There are many advantages to having a four day school week. Some of the advantages are seeing an improvement in attendance and academics. First and foremost, when having a four day week schools will notice an improvement in the attendance. In other words, more students will show up to school then they would in a five day school week. For example, Susan had a dentist appointment, she got home early, so she was debating on if she should go to school. Susan chose to go to school because it was the last day already. This story proves that by having a four day week students will tend to show up but if it was a five day week the attendance would decline. Moreover, another advantage is seeing academic improvement. In similar terms, students will have longer classes which would allow them to learn and improve academically. To prove the point, Mrs. Nelson would go over notes, lesson reviews, and help any students struggling which allowed for all the grades to improve. I am proving that …show more content…
A better explanation would be, both of them will get a three day weekend where they could either finish a project,go to work on that free day, or just relax. To prove the point, bobby has to work to pay his phone bill, he goes to work on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Bobby doesn’t have school on fridays, therefore he will work and have money to pay his phone bill. Bobby’s story proves that he doesn’t have to stress out about paying his phone bill because he works on friday which isn’t a school day anymore in a four day school

Would you classify yourself as a “Monday-Hater”? A vast majority of students immensely detest Monday because it signifies the end of a relaxing weekend and the beginning of another stressful, busy week. However, if a four day school week was implemented then Monday could be tagged on to the weekend and everyone would become “Tuesday-Haters”. Some people claim that it will raise scores because of the idea students will be more attentive in school, thus increasing their intellect. If four day weeks were introduced to schools, the students and schools will both benefit. The schools will save a significant amount of money and students will excel academically and behavior will improve drastically. Whenever we have a student/teacher holiday, less students are absent and behave because they are looking forward to less days of the week. When students have less days to worry about, it will make them work harder so they can finish of the week sooner.…

More time means a more flexible schedule for homework and assignments. Shorter school days, as short as 180/365, 0.493150685 long days or about half the typical hours a school day lasts. Imagine only having to go to school only 3 hours a day! The school year would be longer but the days would be super short. Plus, after school help could last longer for those who need it, and more time for students and teachers to focus on their personal lives, relieving stress for everyone. Ultimately, with all that extra time, students have more time to focus and study. In a year's total, it would give at least 540 more hours of free time, so there would be literally no excuse for late or missing work unless a student has super unique circumstances. information can be retained faster, save time for the teachers, and improve test grades for example my cousin lives in georgia and her year round schooling is going great she’s in the same grade as me and she is farther ahead of me. Less schools hours per day would mean less information that would have to be memorized per day. Miss days will have less effects on information. More ability to take time to do good work. Less have to review at one time. More time for tests review, and less…

Sanderson 2calendar are the 60-20 and the 90-30 plans. Perhaps, the most important facet of year-round education is how it is implemented. Schools may operate on a single-trackschedule where all students are on the same calendar and get the same holidays off, ora multi-rack schedule, which has groups of students attending school at different timeswith different vacations. Since 2007, the number of schools using the year-round schedule has increased by 26 percent. The year-round schooling system offers the same 180 school days, but has two- to four-week long breaks scattered throughout the year. Some schools in South Carolina and Portland, Oregon, have started using the year-round schooling system. Now, Florida is considering switching to year-round schooling as well. Florida should not convert to year-round schooling because it will complicate people’s schedules and cause students to miss out on activities. Experts might argue that the breaks provided by this system help students feel less burnt out, but the breaks actually make it easier for students to forget what they’ve learned. Florida should not change to a state with year-round school.…
