Banning Animal Testing
The number of animal tests rose from 1,566,944 in 1997 to 2,705,722 from the Journal of Medical Ethics. Animal Experimentation is when animals are used for scientific research and to test certain products. Scientists have used this method for a number of years and rely on it to be the most adequate way. However, it may not be the most accurate way of testing. Animal Testing has gotten more popular since the late 1900s. Many different types of animals are used in research, some of them are not practical animals because they are so different from humans. Examples of animals that are used in research are rodents, dogs, cats, monkeys, and gorillas. Animal Experimentation should be banned because animals are getting harsh treatment, people will …show more content…
For example, Jeremy Bentham states, “In research and testing, animals are subjected to experiments that can include everything from testing new drugs to infecting with diseases, poisoning for toxicity testing, burning skin, causing brain damage, implanting electrodes into the brain, maiming, blinding and other painful and invasive procedures.” Most of the operations are disturbing and severe treatments that lead to many deaths. Although the Animal Welfare Act was mad, it still lets scientists do these procedures legally If scientist keep testing these animals it will lead to extinction and varied genes. Each year more than 100 million animals are killed in US laboratories for more biological reasons, curiosity, and cosmetics. This number is extremely alarming and this number is only in the U.S. It is most likely that the number of animals tested in the world is a very startling number. Animals deserve to be in their natural habitat and not enclosed in a metal cage. David Haugen once said, “Pain is pain, whatever the creature that experiences.” Animals are creatures just like human beings and people are destroying and killing their …show more content…
On CNN it states that, “U.S spends 16 billion dollars annually for animal testing at taxpayers’ expense and is subject massive waste and mismanagement of taxpayers’.” This quote explains how people are spending too much money that is not providing any answers. All of this money could be used in alternative methods that might actually help in our research. Furthermore, “A Fox investigation has one lawmaker taking action after we discovered the government is using more than half-million dollars in stimulus money - money meant for saving and creating jobs - to buy monkeys for flu vaccine experiments.” In this investigation not one job was created due to animal experiments. The government is wasting money on animal testing when they could be giving jobs to people that really need it and are in need of money. Moreover animal experimentation is done for illogical reasons such as obesity and addiction. These reasons are not major reasons where someone should punish these animals

Right now, millions of mice, rats, rabbits, cats, dogs, and other animals are locked inside cold, barren cages in laboratories across the country. “For days they languish in pain, ache with loneliness and long to roam free and use their minds” (PETA). These animals come from a wide variety of places such as city pounds, zoos, commercial breeders, and even circuses. Did you know that around the world these animals are being used to test products ranging from shampoo to new cancer drugs? In fact almost every medical treatment that you use has been tested on animals. For instance, animals were used to develop anesthetics (AnimalPort). All they can do is sit and wait in fear of the next terrifying and painful procedure that will be performed on them. “The stress, sterility and boredom causes some animals to develop neurotic behaviors such incessantly spinning in circles, rocking back and forth and even pulling out their own hair and biting their own skin” (PETA). Believe it or not animal testing is not required by law, animal testing is only done to protect companies from consumer lawsuits (Zoomshare). Animal testing…

Animal testing, is also known as animal experiments in the act of using non-human animals in research, to develop projects or scientific experiments. Statistics show that each year, there are millions of animals such as cats, dogs, mice, rats, ferret, hamsters and monkeys that experience mental and physical torture due to scientific research. Although most people agree that animal testing is horrible and cruel, there are few who this is it necessary to find new medicines. During the experiments, the animals are forced to inhale or sallow large amounts of test substances. Which are often found to be poisonous and toxic. The largest concern, is that animals are being used in experiments and not humans. Meaning that the results might or might not be useful for all the humans. Million of animals are suffering from poor conditions of living, and then to…

An estimated 26 million animals are used every year in the United States fir various types of testing. These animals are used for scientific and commercial testing to develop medical treatments, determine toxicity of medications and chemicals, check the safety of products destined for human use and other biomedical or healthcare purposes. This testing on animals is cruel, inhumane and should be banned. It should be banned because the animals are held and live in inhumane conditions, it is harmful and at times lethal to the animals and there are other research method available that do not require animal testing.…

In my opinion there should be no animal testing at all. It is cruel. Right now there are millions of animals sitting in cold cages waiting for their next painful procedure. The stress, sterility and boredom causes them to develop neurotic behaviors such as, biting themselves and running around in circles. Most of these animals are killed after the testing because there is no possible way for them to live after this has happened. More than 100 million animals suffer this torture. Exact numbers have not been found, in rats, mice, birds, and cold blooded animals take up about 90 percent.…

In animal testing, countless animals are experimented on and then killed after their use is up. Some are injured and will still live the remainder of their life in captivity. The doctors will not do anything to help the animals that are in pain that happen to be the reason because of them. It is the aspect of animals testing that many view as a major negative against the practice, as it seems that the animal died in vain because no direct benefit to humans occurred. Even though animals and humans have many things in common like how we both have the same organ system, there are also many things that are different between animals and humans. Many animals cannot handle or take the same medication as humans, most the surgeries that are operated on animals are just too strong for an animal to take so they end up dying or sick for the rest of their lives. Every year millions of animals are subjected to horrible unethical experimentations in order to advance medical science. Dogs, cats, monkeys, mice, and other animals are kept in dark rooms in cages while being exposed to various toxic and poisonous substances daily in order to test how the substance may react in humans. These poor creatures suffer from inhumane treatments and are denied any form of happiness, and these experiments should cease and alternatives should be used instead. Animal testing is a cruel and ineffective medical practice that produces unreliable results and those laboratories should use safer alternatives that will provide more accurate results.…

Each year in the United States, an estimated seventy million animals are hurt and killed in the name of science by private institutions, household products and cosmetics companies, government agencies, educational institutions, and scientific centers. Animal testing is wrong and downright mean. Innocent animals should not be treated badly and caused pain for the sake of a human 's safety. Many people think animal testing is good while others think it is wrong. I think it is completely and absolutely wrong. Some people argue that humans are not necessarily superior to animals, so why should animals be experimented on and made to suffer to protect human beings? Do you know what animal testing is, what condition the animals live in, and what some alternatives to testing animals are?…

Animal testing has become a very controversial topic to discuss. Experimenting on animals is cruel because even though there are alternative ways to test people still believe that testing on the animals is a better way to do things. Acts of cruelty against the animals, and the fact that animals are different from humans seem to be big issues in the controversy.
