My love and commitment for science can be seen through my A level choices. I chose Biology, Chemistry and Physics as I knew they would provide me the platform I needed to study Biomedical science at university. My subjects taught me perseverance and adapting a creative approach to solving problems, which is essential in the field. I assisted the tutor running the Art club and exercise classes. The experience has been challenging but highly gratifying. Working there exposed me to an array of both mental and physical disabilities. I was able to see the restrictions that different levels of disabilities had on a person. A challenge I faced there was communication when working with a woman whom suffered from a neurodegenerative disease. She had a limited range of movement and could not talk; hence she had to communicate through different means. She had a sheet filled with common phrases and the alphabet; she would use her elbow to spell out what she was saying. Working closely with her helped me understand the importance of patience, persistence and compassion. My time here has made me even more determined to contribute to the Biomedical field and find ways to help the people who went to the
