1) Quick background a) Panama Hattie’s (PH) island seafood house opened in June 1983. It has since been one of South Florida’s leading examples as a Caribbean style seafood restaurant. Located on the intercostal water way in the heart of Palm Beach Gardens Florida, Panama Hattie’s has dominated the competition over the past 30 years because of their innovative cuisine and exceptional view. In 2003 Owner Chris Doyle decided to purchase the two acre property directly south of the Panama Hattie’s location. Over the next two years Mr. Doyle slowly converted this property into a sand covered island style beach scene. Adding a separate building to serve as a bar and dominate location for staff, a tiki-bar and three fire pits soon followed. More than doubling the dock space of his current location, Panama Hattie’s & Rum Bar became the premier location to hang out after being out on the water all day. 2) Why Expand? b) The entrepreneur is that endless challenge seeker. Once their small business is humming along, growth is the next exciting challenge. The PH brand has been moving along without hiccup for years. This is the time to expand and create a lasting brand. With the expansion comes the opportunity to extend profits to an unlimited number only governed by the amount of expansion. c) With the creation and expansion of a brand, the opportunity to create and harness a culture arises. Creating a culture within an organization helps increase productivity by instilling a new mindset in the staff. This eventually helps further expansion by instilling the PH mindset from day one.
