KUALA LUMPUR, 30 Aug: Application for the prestigious 2014/15 Chevening Scholarships programme is now open. Malaysians are invited to submit their applications from 1 Sept – 15 Nov 2013.
Funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and partner organisations, Chevening is a scholarship programme which operates in over 100 countries worldwide. The programme provides opportunities to exceptional individuals with leadership potential to study in the UK and bring back their experiences and knowledge to their home country.
The programme funds full-time post-graduate study for one year at a UK university of the students’ choice. It covers a substantial monthly stipend, travel costs (return) to the UK, total academic fees, an arrival allowance and thesis grant.
Up to 30 scholarships will be made available to Malaysians for the 2014/15 intake, making Malaysia, once again, among the top five countries to award the largest number of Chevening scholarships in the world.
This is possible through the generosity of BAE Systems who will, again, be sponsoring awards in the fields of Engineering, Sciences and Cyber Security; the Prudence Foundation who will be sponsoring awards in the fields of Business & Islamic Finance and Media & Communications, and the Cambridge and Commonwealth Trust will be offering awards for study in the University of Cambridge. The University of Edinburgh, University of Westminster, Cranfield University and Kings College will also be sponsoring awards for study at their respective institutions.
Simon Featherstone, the British High Commissioner to Malaysia said:
“The Chevening Scholarships programme has always been a unique platform for future leaders to excel in their chosen disciplines at British universities which rank among the best in the world. Chevening alumni have an excellent record of rising to positions of leadership across a wide range of fields
