As a dentist you have to deal with different types of people, including young children who may be scared, so it is their responsibility to make the patient feel comfortable and relaxed in a short amount of time, so that they can trust you and won’t feel anxious while being treated, this requires excellent peoples skills which I believe I have. During my work experience I witnessed how the dentist I was shadowing was able to calm and comfort a young girl who began crying before a tooth extraction by reassuring the patient and explaining the procedure. By showing empathy and good behavioural management the dentist was able to control the situation, and I believe I have these qualities to participate in this line of work. I spoke to the nurses about their role within the practise and this made realise how important teamwork is so that the patients receive the best possible service and the practice runs
