In a written report, explain using examples you have observed, the importance of effective communication and interpersonal interaction in a Health and Social Care context
It can be very easy to misunderstand different people in today’s society. In this day and age people speak very differently in different age/racial groups; this can lead to misconception and effectively the wrong treatment.
Communication is important as it allows vulnerable clients/patients to give and receive information about a product or treatment that will allow them to live easier and without as much hassle. In order to give someone the right treatment you need to understand clearly what they are explaining to you about problems they face in everyday life.
The context in which communication is used is: one-to-one; groups, formal, informal, between colleagues, between professional and people using services, communication with professionals, multi-agency working, multi-professional working.
Here are some examples of communication:-
One to one: this is when one person talks to another. It is only between two people, one of who are speaking and the other who is listening. It is easy to take turns to listen and speak and sometimes involves formal and informal communication. One to one communication improves the relationship between a patient/client and worker as it improves the trust.
Groups: this is when a group of people are talking or giving a message across, this is different from one to one communication as when you are in a group you need to take turns to talk and listen. It can happen in different situations like reports or meetings, case conferences, group activities and in family situations like dinner or a day together. Sometimes group communication can be difficult when one or two people dominate the group.
Formal: this when a person speaks to someone important and uses
