These are some questions I am asking myself and they are the reason why I want to write some of my thoughts about this topic. I am going to write on some advantages and disadvantages which need to be taken into consideration.
Fewer Accidents
First of all I want to discuss the argument that our population is going to be safer, because there would be fewer accidents if driverless cars were invented. If we think about this statement, we will not find anything bad. What could be wrong with the thought, that there will be cars, which are smart enough not to cause a car crash? It could be one of the best things that happened in human history.
But when you are looking after hitches, you will find enough problems to rethink the whole project. If driverless cars were invented, they would be controlled and driven by a specific software and there are many brilliant hackers, who could hack into the software and do whatever they want with the system. For them, it is easy to cause some accidents or some huge problems for the traffic bonds.
Costs
Secondly we need to pay attention at the amount of money that is needed for one car. We are talking about enormous sums of 200.000$ for every single vehicle. That means, if these kinds of vehicles are going to be invented, that there would be needed a huge sum of money and to get this whole money, our state needs to raise the taxes and none of us would want something like that.
Or would we? I would not!
(Ich wurde weniger “ands” benutzen)
Responsibility
And last but not least, we need to discover who is going to be responsible for traffic accidents. If there is nobody sitting behind the steering wheel, who is going to stand for the consequences? Who is going to pay the compensations? Which person is going to be blamed? I do not even know one
