I jerked upright, causing Olivia to laugh at my reaction. She set her stuff down, and got her bright, pink surfboard out. Olivia said, “Let’s go surfing, the waves look great.” I nodded my head in reply. We treaded through the waters and reached the middle where the waves were at a good height and pace. We started taking some waves and had fun. My parents were at shore, sleeping. I surfed for a while, and then got a bit weary. I yelled, “Olivia, let's go back!” Olivia replied, “Okay, I’m coming.” We walked to shore and I wrapped myself in a towel. Olivia and I got bored, so we decided to get backing in the waters. It was the peak of the waves, so we had to be more careful. The sun was shining bright above our heads, making the water glisten with the reflection of the sky. I was pulled into the waters by the current. My heart pounded against the waters. My eyes were tightly shut, and I could feel my hair slapping my face wildly. For a moment, I forgot how to breathe. And then it hit me, I was about to drown. What should I do, this was it, this is so the end, all these thoughts ran through my brain. I felt suffocated under the pressure, but I calmed myself down. I tried to kick my feet loose from the seaweed. Once I freed myself, I kicked up to the surface of the water. I coughed and threw out the seawater that got stuck up my nose. Before another wave crashed I decide to swim parallel waves, as I had been taught. I reached shore, and saw Olivia walking frantically to
