Most people have experienced the hospitality industry. The industry is vast, and constantly changing to meet customer expectations. It is also a very diverse industry, ranging from stays in a five-star hotel to meals in a fast-food outlet.
In these first two units, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of this exciting and fast-moving industry. You first consider the different types of businesses in hospitality industry at national and local levels. You will explore the types of hospitality jobs, and the skills needed to work in the industry. You will then go on to look at the products and services offered in different hospitality settings, and how other businesses, such as those in the travel sector, support the hospitality industry. 1 2 1 2
