Racism affects society in a negative aspect which is harmful to progressing forward in harmony as one. Multiculturalism can occasionally rebound and give a negative effect on society from the stereotypes and abstractions made from the wider community and the mass media. Simply blaming those who are intentionally racist is the easy way out of a much larger problem. What right person would think racism is a good thing for our community? There are several reasons which can explain the purposes as to why racism impacts detrimentally in our modern society. These include the harmful effect on individuals’ health and their consequences, races divided against each other which creates social unrest and the unemployment factor in particular races which potentially leads to poverty.

Races associated in the minorities are more likely to be unemployed on the foundation of their ethnicity. In the US, more than twice as many black individuals are unemployed than white people. This pejorative statistic is the outcome of many black Americans residing in poor neighbourhoods and thus low incomes. Many races vulnerable to severe discrimination are more subject to not acquiring secure and respected employment due to their tarnished backgrounds from a poor lifestyle. Additionally, employers can potentially have the indirect impact of not hiring a minority individual, exhibiting racism, purely because of the person’s skin tone and background. This can have unambiguous and drastic consequences on the discriminated person’s welfare and state of being.
