Friday, December 4th, 2015, at 7 pm , the biggest game of my career began. In front of about 30,000 people in the stands and at least an additional 30,000
watching on tv, we attempted to accomplish the goal of every high school team in the state. The 2015 State Championship was underway at Skelly field. It was a chilly night for the fans but the perfect weather for the players. We started out rough with a quick fumble on the opening kickoff and Jenks scoring a few plays later. Throughout the first half, it was a fist fight with the momentum switching between both teams. At half, we went into the locker room with the momentum from a touchdown from Sammy Akem. We were ready for the second half. We gave it everything we had for the next 24 minutes but in the end we were fell short of our goal. This game impacted my life in a plethora of ways. After this game, I had to learn to appreciate the little things and the people on the team a lot more. Every year people will leave and go and after building up your relationship with that person, it will decline after your final game because you won’t see them and spend the countless hours with that person anymore. The feeling I had at the game made me want to get back to the state game so it has made me more determined than i’ve ever been to get better and win the 2016 state championship game. After the long days, Saturday morning workouts and film sessions, I have learned to greatly appreciate the coaches, my parents, and all of the countless adults who have invested their time for me. This game has made a major impact on my life. This game has taught me a lot of things about myself and about going through hardships. One of the many lessons that it taught me is that you will have to face hardships in life and everything in life isn’t going to just be handed to you. You have to earn everything you get in life. I also learned that you will have to lose sometimes in order to learn a lesson. After you learn your lesson, the only thing you can do from there is use what you learned and try not to make the same mistake again. I learned my lesson in the 2015 state championship game and I will make it back to the 2016 state championship game and we will have a different outcome.
