Johnson Tv Ad Analysis
The Johnson TV ad is easily the most disturbing and emotional ad of the group of four ads. The ad is all visual but catches the viewer completely off guard as it ends with the little girl stopping after her counting. In thinking back to that time period the Cold War is in high swing, the Cuban Missile Crisis is still present in the general public’s mind. Further, you have the Vietnam War ramping up with more and more troops going to Southeast Asia, and unfortunately many are also coming home to be buried. I believe this ad to be very effect for several reasons; first it’s very moving emotional and makes the viewer think of another terrible ending for those that are so innocent in today society like their children. It takes all hope away from them as the ad finishes. It gives the viewer a very strong reason not to vote for the Republican candidate Goldwater who was challenging Johnson for the President’s. Second, in this time I think most people where looking for stability a since of safety in their next President this ad gives the opposite view that we would be safe. Finally, it was extremely relevant to the concerned voter, it was real in their eyes something that could happen because of what had happened with Cuba it …show more content…
I think this ad is very effective and was given to Obama on a platter by his opponent. First as with all the ad’s this one captures a theme that resonates with the public. Here, Romney has stated that he is going to gut Public Broadcasting after he is elected to be President. Most of the voters more than likely grew up watching PBS and Big Bird these same voters more than likely would also want their children to watch Big Bird on PBS it was a no win for the Romney camp. This ad like the other three ad’s connected with voters emotions and deep feelings or passion of the time that what made this ad and all the other ad’s so powerful and

To me this commercial is very successful in persuading its audience to vote for him as a nominee for Alabama’s agriculture commission, because he’s been a farmer, a business man, and a marine during the Vietnam War. Secondly, he is responsible and accountable for the state’s wealth, which is five billion dollars, and furthermore, if the citizens of Alabama don’t vote for him, they may be at risk for losing their farms.…

Carnival hired BBDO Atlanta (that was recently named Global Agency of the Year by Adweek Magazine) that has Academy Award winner Wally Pfister (director of Transcendence, Inception, Moneyball and The Dark Knight trilogy) to shoot their 30 second commercial. This commercial was titled, “Come Back to the Sea” that consisted imagery of their cruise liners and one of inspirational narration by JFK. This ad made a lot of connection with viewers (per www.superbowlcommercial2015.com), and thought to be very effective to deliver its messages. It was memorable as you hear JFK give out a speech that states that the sea is our home, so come back to the sea. His messages while watching the cruise line scenery made a lot of consumers and I feel very connected to the sea and their services. But more powerful images could’ve been used to make a strong and bold impression. Hearing JFK was good and inspirational, but much stronger images to accommodate that could’ve made a stronger sales pitch to its…

This commercial relies heavily on this appeal. Without the emotional aspect within their ad, I believe it would not have had the impact that it did. The man creates the persona of each and every one of us. The man appears sad throughout the commercial, but I believe it represents a sadness of not knowing how to help someone. He gains such a following of those in need, but still appears sad and doesn’t know how or what to do.…

This ad was about presenting McGovern as a man who cared about the people and was for the people. This approach was accomplished through the use of informal interviews that asked people to describe how included they felt in McGovern’s election process. The only issue that was brought up by McGovern was the issue about campaign funding stating that his Republican candidate uses the wealthy elites who expect favors to cover the cost of his campaign where as he uses the small but numerous contributions from the middle class majority to try to change the future. This ad had an overall pleasant attitude however, it was kind of pointed at targeting his opponent. There were no children or celebrities used in the ad and the overall intelligence of the audience was not…

    Appeals Activity Analysis

I would say that this commercial was made for a sympathetic audience. Watching it for “Chevy Guys” they will feel for their Chevy’s and probably feel that they are just like the father in the commercial. They would do anything to keep their Chevy running and in the family. This commercial absolutely uses pathos appeal to speak to its audience. When the father looks at a picture of him, his dad and the truck he thinks of all the memories made with this truck and then thinks of all the memories he will make with this truck and his own son. This is a very heartfelt moment and you would be considered soulless if this moment did not tug on your heart strings. To conclude this first part of my Appeals Activity I would say this commercial’s argument is very persuasive. The commercial really tugs at your heart and ties in the sentimental value that we all have with something in our life. This commercial will really speak to true “Chevy Guys” that can recall all of the memories they have with their own Chevy. In the end, I found this to be one of the better commercials I have seen in awhile and would not change much as I felt the message and way it was delivered really hits…

Have you ever heard the statement, a man that smells good is automatically attractive"? It's the first thing that I think of when I think of the Old Spice commercials. My favorite one is the one titled “Old Spice Mom Song”. This Old Spice commercial has caught the attention of over a million people across the world on both television and YouTube. This ad on YouTube was published on January 3, 2014, shows how mothers are upset and torn when their sons start using Old Spice products. When the boys start using Old Spice, it symbolizes becoming a man.…

3 out of 10 commericals were with the same people. Not that is bad, but he couldv’e done each commerical with different people to get what everyone else thinks about President Nixon’s actions last term. I feel I would’ve choosen President Nixon over McGovern. McGovern’s commericals were sorta convicing but not enough for me to vote for him. There was one commerical that I did not understand and no matter how many times I saw it, I couldn’t grasp the meaning behind that commerical. The commerical name was Newspapers and the narrator just said, this is about... and that just got annoying because he just said that and a news article. So I think that this commerical could’ve been better made then just saying…

I believe this was an effective and persuasive commercial for a number of reasons. First of all the Ethos of the commercial held credibility within the company of Chevy itself because it is a well known and has been around for a long time. Technically it may not have had a lot of Logos because it was set after the apocalypse, but it used the apocalypse to show Pathos of being able to survive something such as that and last. Also it was clever to have it set for the year of the Mayan Apocalypse that a lot amount of people are work up about. The music played throughout the commercial also appealed to the…

For my rhetorical analysis ad, I chose to do a Save the Children foundation ad from Mexico. I wanted to pick an ad that had a lot to say even if it had very few words. This ad I feel has a very powerful message against child abuse. It shows the cycle of child abuse that occurs way too often. The abused child statistically ends up being the abusing adult in the cycle. Save the Children foundation has quite a few of these “break the cycle” ads. They all have the same core concept a child becoming the abusing adult. Every one showing the different ways a child is abused in today’s society and how that turns into a vicious cycle.…

Comparing both Johnson and Goldwater ads you find that they are both similar in different ways. Neither one of them appeared in their ad which I take as they are trying to communicate to what people find dear such as a little girl in a meadow and Ronald Reagan the great communicator. Both their messages were about going to war. They both had a message, maybe not the same message but it was very clear and précis. Their messages had different meanings in Johnson was ready for war, and Goldwater was wanting to peace to continue. Johnson’s ad was more graphical and Goldwater as Johnson tried to send a clear message.…

In times of elections, voters want to ensure that they choose the best candidate for each office. The 2012 race for West Virginia Senator between Joe Manchin and John Raese created a competition with commercial ads. One of the ads for Joe Manchin responds to the Carpetbagger John Raese’s Attack Ad. Manchin utilizes local firefighters in this commercial to appeal to the viewer’s emotions by creating a sense of safety, as well as, giving the voters reasoning to elect Manchin through the credibility of the firefighters.…
