Mentor Questions And Answers
1. Why are you interested in serving as a peer mentor again?
I am interested in serving as a peer mentor again next year because of the experiences and opportunities that I have had so far. Looking back on my experiences in Econ 110, I appreciated the guidance I received from the class and from my peer mentors. I am excited to continue to help the incoming freshman class adjust to college by preparing them for life as an Agricultural Business student. More specifically preparing them for the CALS career fair, working with each student of their four-year plans, and being available for any questions they may have.

2. What skills/qualities have you acquired that will make you a better peer mentor next year?
I feel as if I have acquired and improved many skills and qualities that will make me a better peer mentor next year. Public speaking has always been a weakness of mine, however, with the opportunity to co-teach this past fall I have gained a greater level of confidence in my ability to talk to a group of people. Over the past year, I have expanded on my communication skills one on one. I feel that it is very valuable to not only have a one on one discussion with each student but also check in on them during work time. What was the most and least satisfactory aspect of serving as a first-year peer mentor?
The most satisfactory aspect of serving as a first-year peer mentor was when my mentees became comfortable asking questions and using us as the resource we are meant to be. With that, the least satisfactory aspect was the students who did not apply themselves and did not utilize Nathan or I. Next year, I hope to be able to get all students more active in simply talking in the classroom with their peers or engaging in out of classroom
