My Ugly Writing Experience In High School
Throughout life, many people have different writing experiences; the good, the bad, and the ugly. We started off writing when we were in grade school and still continue to do so. So why does a first year composition instructor asks us to relive our high school experiences? One of my bad writing experiences was I never was a good writer in general. I didn’t really like writing essays, because my essays usually end up being boring and repetitive. Sometimes I am unsure on what I should be writing about. When I write an essay, I usually end up going off topic and start writing some other nonsense not related to the topic. English wasn’t exactly my strongest subject but somehow I still succeeded. , throughout my high school years I have never had a good English teacher that taught the basic English necessities that we needed to know to succeed. A few months into my senior year, my AP Literature teacher quit teaching to go pursue a different career causing us to do bookwork and unnecessary work for months until the school district found us another suitable English teacher. Even though we got a new AP Literature teacher, we only had a month before the big AP exam and she would pressure us into writing numerous essays each week causing us not to learn anything at all. After some bad experiences, there are always some good ones, during my senior year I had joined the yearbook staff. Being part of the yearbook staff meant that you had the responsibility of taking pictures, making captions, and writing stories about the different events happening around the campus.
