My Ugly Writing Experience In High School
Throughout life, many people have different writing experiences; the good, the bad, and the ugly. We started off writing when we were in grade school and still continue to do so. So why does a first year composition instructor asks us to relive our high school experiences? One of my bad writing experiences was I never was a good writer in general. I didn’t really like writing essays, because my essays usually end up being boring and repetitive. Sometimes I am unsure on what I should be writing about. When I write an essay, I usually end up going off topic and start writing some other nonsense not related to the topic. English wasn’t exactly my strongest subject but somehow I still succeeded. My ugly writing experience happened in high school

Personally, I’ve always felt I was a decent writer in all aspects regarding research and personal narratives. Considering those are subjects that interest me and that I love to read about. I struggle the most when it comes to making my writing hold a deeper or hidden message when the topics I am told to write about don’t interest me. Having to do rhetorical analysis with old literature and having to explain the main idea was my number one struggle in AP language and composition senior year. But other than that I felt, throughout high school, I enjoyed writing and taking a majority of the writing classes my school had to offer, not only because it was required but because it was something that teachers and myself felt I did acceptable work.…

Throughout my time is College Composition I, I learned and developed numerous skills that I will carry with me to college and beyond. While writing the five assigned essays, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I believe a strength of mine was my ability to add in personal stories into my essays. For example, in my definition essay, I included my fear of disappointment and how I work to overcome this particular fear. On the other hand, one weakness that I struggled with was style. While writing my essays, I would sometimes use wordy and unclear sentences structures. Often times I would focus solely on improving my diction while writing my papers.…

In my first essay on identity, I felt very comfortable, and I even thought that was easy, except for the thesis, in which I spent a little bit more than two hours. The rest was easy, but I did not understand the assignment and I failed my purpose of writing because I did not have a clear purpose. My second essay on community was better. The thesis statement was clear, I was more specific, but there were not stronger connections between my paragraphs and my thesis. Consequently, my evidence was unstructured and unclear. Then, in my third essay on competition, I did not add transitions in my paragraphs and I did not preserve the logical flow of the story. My fourth essay on Romance, was my favorite, my ideas were clear in my mind but not on my paper; the thesis was long and lacked of clarity to support my assertions. Next, my fourth essay on entertainment, I jumped from one idea to other without sticking to my thesis and my position was not clear. Finally, in my last essay on nature, what I feel was the worst of my essays; I used an assumption very difficult to illustrate and I misunderstood the assumption which leaded to lack of coherence and unity.…

Thesis: Although the United States of America has branched away to form their own government system, a group of parties seem to develop over time. The Federalist Party, who is proudly run by Hamilton, and the Democratic-Republican, who is run by Jefferson, both use ways to indulge themselves in making the United States a much better place to live compared to what they use to live under England’s rule.…

Overall, I am not a completely horrible writer. I’m good at getting my point across, and just flat out writing once I get going. However, there is definitely things that I can improve on, as there almost always is in life. My grammar skills and sentence wordiness can greatly be improved, this will come with writing more and looking over my work. I didn’t really write papers until this class, so these issues will also get better as I become a more experienced…

I have always had struggles and difficulties when it comes to writing. This is due to the fact that English is not my first language, and that I am still learning. I started to learn how to speak, and listen, and mainly write in English when I was in ninth grade. Writing has been the hardest to deal with it, because I have many spelling and mechanical errors and most importantly, how to organize an essay, but this changed when I took English 49 with Professor Lucero. In my first day of class, I was assigned to write an essay about my experience with writing. I was not completely sure on how to start my essay and how to organize it. When I was in High School, I did not write many essays, and the few I did, I have endless help. So, I just my…

Throughout my life writing has been very difficult. As a kid a speech impediment impaired my ability to learn to read properly. Because I struggled at reading, I also struggled at writing. In elementary school I went to a special class during lunch to learn how to read and write better. In middle school I went to after school help, but my writing skills always seemed to slip behind the level of the students around me.…

On the first day of class, Dr.Ruiz wrote six questions on the board and the last question asked for our perspective on writing. My answer to this question was “I hate writing.” I’m an English Learner who came to the U.S. 5 years ago with no knowledge in English. Therefore, writing is not a likable assignment due to my lack of English skills and I did not have confidence when I wrote in English because I had a fear of people’s judgment about my English. Therefore, I was not an advanced writer when I enrolled in WRI 001. Nevertheless, I have grown substantially since beginning of the semester as a reader, writer, researcher and thinker.…

When given this assignment to describe what kind of writer I am, I panicked. I spent hours staring at a blank page, trying to decide whether to fabricate a story, describe my feelings of inadequacy in the area of writing or simply drop this class. The truth is my past is very blurry, I may have been an excellent writer at one time in my life, but the chances of me remembering that are very slim. So this is not so much a story from my life, it is more of the story of why I can’t remember my life.…

An interesting case that was currently brought before the Supreme Court was Missouri vs. Frye. I found this case interesting due to the injustice that was provided by Frye’s counsel, and that Frye insisted on committing the same crime over and over again even though he knew he had an open case concerning driving under a suspended license. There were many sources and jurisdictions related to criminal law that also relates to this case. Criminal liability is when one takes responsibility for committing a crime, and accomplice liability is when someone helps someone commit a crime. Actus reus means guilty act, mens rea means guilty mind, and concurrence means the equality of rights. Actus reus and mens rea are both necessary in order for a defendant to prove criminal liability.…
