The nurse can create this influence by providing examples of how the policy change will improve things for all staff involved as well as for the patients that they are caring for. Once people are able to identify with the benefits of change, they are often more willing to engage and be supportive of the change. Having staff buy in to change can be very challenging, but when they can relate to the need for the change, they are usually buying in a lot sooner. Nurse leaders are able to influence other staff members by being a role model and actively supporting the idea that she wants others to be on board with.
