We chatted about our adventures while we went to their destination telling my story about getting in trouble with a bear. When we got to the cave we took a picture. Then they asked me if I wanted to go to a Scooby doo party I said yes, so they gave me directions for the party. Then we parted. I headed to the big drop it was a ten minute walk when I arrived there was a big s-log it was cool so I stopped to take a picture and I moved on then there was a small ledge that I needed to climb off of there was a boulder that I needed to step on to get over the ledge the boulder was sturdy so I grabed on the boulder to help me get down the suddenly the boulder came loose and me and the boulder fell i landed on the ground fine but the boulder was falling and it was so fast for me to do anything all that I did was put my hands over my head so I could push it away but then slam I yelled oww! Then everything froze I saw my arm crushed between the boulder and the canyon wall. I stared at it, I was shocked. I tried to lift it with my left hand but it wouldn’t budge so I tried slamming into it with my shoulder didn’t work but I kept lifting and slamming into it anyway because this was the only chance I got to move the boulder with brute force because of

One night we were at Emili Lewis’s house. A few of us girls wanted to try to stay up all night. It had been raining so we decided we wanted to go for a drive. This point of the night it was like 1:30 a.m. We drove for a little while before we got bored. We decided to brainstorm some ideas of stuff to do. We decided we wanted to go out to Box Canyon in Kaitlin’s truck to look at the stars. It took us a little while to get everything put together. We finally started heading out there at 3:00 a.m. On the way out there we passed a truck. The truck was very short, matte black, and had a circle light bar in between the headlights. None of us recognized the truck and we got a little nervous. We decided to ignore it and keep going. For the rest of the drive we talked about boys, problems, and then we started talking about scary stuff. When we got out there we were too scared to get out of the truck, so we turned around and started back into town. We got…

My feet ached as I passed through the automatic screen door to the snow filled Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport parking lot. The cool, crisp air stung my face, but my smile remained. Seven slow years have passed since I visited Crested Butte, Colorado, and I have been craving to return the moment I left. The towering mountains, blissful blue sky, and blinding white snow from the piercing sun makes Colorado a place like no other. I stood waiting on the icy concrete for my dad to pull around Baby Blue, a 1996 Chevrolet Astro van my family had nicknamed. My family visited Colorado in 2010, because my mom’s boss owns a timeshare condo, which included Baby Blue. He offered us a vacation to Crested Butte where we could have a free place to…

I have gone to Camp Sierra Vista for the past eight years of my life. Camp has taught me many things. How to be myself, how to work well with others, how to have fun, and mainly how to be a leader. I was never really one to be a leader of a group at school, but at camp, I was.…

This spring I spent two-weeks in New York visiting my daughter and her family. I spend a lot of time in the city, and I love it, not only because my daughter has chosen to create and raise a family in Brooklyn, but also because of its walkability. I’m not much of a shopper, but I do like to watch other shoppers, particularly those who dress as if they’d like to be watched.…

Hey guys! Today I went on a crazy adventure to somewhere I have never been before! I flowed down a cascade mountain range and into the amazing and beautiful Columbia river. My friends I met in the mountains and are now headed to the mouth/ delta of the river the Pacific ocean where we will hopefully be evaporated again. We just exited the headwaters and will be entering some tributaries along our journey. Although, this river doesn’t have many dangers I am concerned of entering a creek because I like going straight to the ocean to be evaporated again because water droplets like me love to travel! This has been a pretty easy journey so far but I have got to say I have been a bit chilly. The weather down here has been around 25-30 degrees so that…

Revision is a strange process. After writing and revising time efforts have been poured into a draft, the writer’s mind can become entangled in an ideal story—a story crafted that reflects their heart. With this mindset, it is easy for the writer to become stagnate in their revisions, only to change some sentence structure or the particular words used. While this might be good in some cases, it can also be dangerous. To combat this liner mindset, I made three changes after a failed attempt of revising.…

During breakfast they announced to us that we would be doing things different that day. We all needed to return to our cabins as soon as we finished eating and put on tennis shoes, sun block, to bring a lot of water. After we all did that we met at the circle and they told us that we were climbing a mountain as a bonding experience. So they put us in groups of three with people in our cabins, but the task was for us to bond with someone that we didn’t know. We started our journey and coincidentally my group had gotten stuck behind a group of girls from Kalamazoo, Michigan. Now none of knew these girls, but I did know that one of them had given me a dirty look at lunch the day before so I wasn’t too thrilled about walking by them. We were all having a nice walk until about half way up the mountain it had gotten really steep. It was like trying to walk up a gravel wall. Everyone on my group successfully made it up, and two people form their group did but for some reason the girl who gave me a dirty look was having trouble. She just couldn’t get up there. Everyone in her group had walked up ahead so I was forced to help her. As I was standing there everything inside of me was telling me not to help her, but I had to think about what if that was me. So I couldn’t jus let her stay down there, so I helped her. We walked up the rest of the mountain together. We talked and I came to find out that she was a really nice…

This summer I went to camp with my friends. It was one day and night trip. There were about 12 children. We put up our tent near the river to hear river flows and swim. To me beginning was extremely nice. But suddenly it rained so heavily. Because of the rain we all got wet and cold. Although we knew there were no branches that didn’t wet, we decided to collect branches to make a fire. Also it was getting darker. So I climbed the forest with my 5 male friends. The one of them was climbing more higher and higher. Suddenly he came down so quickly and said that a drop of water dropped on his head from tree. He surprised and looked around there was nothing except that tree. His face was looked pale and frightened. Because of that we were so afraid. However, we started collecting branches. When I sat down to collect few branches, something hit my back. So I asked my friends who was he that threw branch at me? They all said they are not except only one friend of mine who was smiling secretly. So I asked him. He also said “I’m not”. I got goosebumps and about to cry. But he said “I threw only cone of pine at you”. That was really relief. When we finished and went back, I was walking in front of them. They called me loudly and made me to stop walking. They run to me quickly, said there was something behind me and following my steps. I was really afraid and began to cry. Suddenly they all comforted and hugged me warmly, and said “it was only joke” with big smile. Altough they told me it was joke, I couldn’t talk anymore about 4 hours. That was the worst holiday in my life……
