I have listed the characteristics that are the basic qualities in most students that have the chance at getting into National Honors Society.
While I attain all of these characteristics, I also am able to offer more--I am a person with strong opinions, someone who’s not afraid to stand up for what I believe in. I am someone who will go the extra mile to help a friend, to make them smile on a bad day. While intelligence may get you far in life, having an outgoing and sociable personality can help me reach the goals I desire. When I confided in my friends for help as to why I deserve to be in the National Honors Society, they all had the same idea: I am more than just textbooks and good grades, and my warming personality and welcoming attitude is what makes me
qualifiable.
I have mentioned before that I am a leader in the classroom, and an example of this is my AP Economics class. The subject, with no doubt, is hard to many students, myself included. In the corner of the classrooms my friends and I have raided, I am the person to make sure everyone else understands the lesson we are learning; to put my pencil down and encourage others to pick theirs up and try a problem. Aside from AP Economics, I am the president of the spanish club, as well as the Editor-In-Chief of the newspaper, CD Rampage. I have been committed to spanish club since freshman year. and during eleventh grade I was an officer. I was then elected as the president of the club, and now I run and organize how each meeting goes. As an Editor-In-Chief, I edit the newspaper website, and choose articles written by students to publish. I also help students while writing their articles, as peers will ask me certain questions about their articles. I am always around to give advice and make edits to people’s work, while staying kind and supportive.
Outside of school, I show true sportsmanship at my job. I am currently employed at Chipotle, where I have been for about seven months. My employees have watched me grow into a top performer, a worker who is always lending a hand to people who may not know certain things, or have recently been hired. My manager has told me that I make it clear I care about the restaurant, and that I am not just an employee who is only there for the money. I am someone to put my heart into everything I do, and I think that makes me an excellent candidate for National Honors Society. I know I could ramble on about all the activities I have participated in, but the list that I have filled out that I am a fairly involved student. That list is not what just makes me qualified as a National Honors Society, and that I am a well rounded person. Grades are important to me, which is clear, but I also care deeply about my relationships with my peers, and making an impression on this world. We all want to make something of ourselves, and those in National Honors Society are people who represent the strength it takes to succeed, and I believe I have the characteristics it takes too.
