Challenges never harms you, but it increase your mental ability to perform better next time. Experience is key to confident. Sometime bad and sometime good but we shouldn’t forget bad experience or failure is the pillar of success. Some people scare to change, but I am scare if I am not changed. For a person like me who were born and raised in Quad Cities, researching, marketing, and expanding in country like Africa is not easy however; if I had already worked in team in my company in Quad Cities and have acquired experience working people from different back ground that will definitely help me understand and accept the differences. Moving with full of responsibilities from quad cities to one corner of Africa, I will have to encounter lots of up and down, among them today I will focus on three things: my challenges on newly created position, my response to the president of the company and my biggest concern on moving.
My challenges can make me or break me. I …show more content…
am raising star in my company in my home town where I was born, educated and raised, but not in Africa that will make a difference. I am going to be appointed as a marketing director in a strange community in the middle of the strange people. My first challenge will be communication. Marketing needs well communicational medium so that a team will be trained to their full potential. If I don’t speak or understand African language at all, and my team in Africa speaks their native language only like me, than how can we communicate? I will need interpreter, translator and often fail in making decisions. My second concern is ethical concern in the African society. Different society has different social acceptance and unacceptance. For example, looking directly on the eye of is rude in some country where as it is just opposite in America. What may be ethical in Quad cities may be unethical in Africa, so I might have to face challenges on stuffs making decisions, hiring leaders, rating the performance. Technology will be my third challenge in Africa. We have 24/7 availability of internet, electricity, transportation, and computer, but I don’t think these technologies will be so sufficient in Africa, so I might have to wait for internet signal getting better, wait for public transportation and so forth.
What should I say to my company president? In my opinion, the fearer are the biggest loser. If I have a courage of learning difficult moment, then why should I hesitate to say ‘yes’ I will take and offer to the President. I will happily accept these offer. The three reasons I will accept the offer are; first, I will be paid better, about three time of what I am paid now. It will boost of my financial situation. Second, I already have knowledge about the product and company in quad cities. I have also successfully worked and leaded different individuals from different cultural background in my present company. Third, I love to travel. I like change so when it comes to leaving quad cities for Africa, I would like it. I will get to know lot of new things, new culture and new market. These will be another asset in my life when I come back to America. From the economical, experience and educational point of view I will say yes I will go to the new location to the company’s President.
Do I want to stay away from my family for so long?
Of course not. How often will I be allowed to visit my family in Quad Cities will be my first biggest concern? Similarly my safety and my medical facilities will be my second and third concern respectively. I have never been away from my family for so long. I obviously want to be with them in some special occasion like Christmas, New Year, therefore I will check with the president if they can allow me leave and afford my trip. I don’t want to put my life in risk. Safety and security will be my second concern. I don’t want to how safety is the community. If there are lots of crime, murder, and loot, I don’t want to be on the trap and leave my family at financial risk. Different communities view strangers differently. Some have welcoming attitude, some don’t care and some totally hate. If my safety is not at risk and immediate health facilities are available as needed I will be ready to adjust with my other minor concerns in my new
jobs.
In conclusion, success is not easy and if it is easy it is not success. Moving to a strange community and be in the middle strangers is a unique offer. If my company offer me this, I would definitely study my challenges, rise my concern and respond to my company President before I finalized my decision.
