1. Contingency management style is not the same as the autocratic, democratic or laissez-faire styles. Explain what the contingency style is and discuss when it is best applied. [20]
2. Briefly outline the standard steps in the recruitment and selection process. Discuss the pitfalls if each step is not followed. [20]
3. Payment by results, piece work and set/fixed wages are three types of payment system. Briefly describe EACH one and explain the advantages and disadvantages of EACH. [20]
4. Explain what causes staff to resist change and how you, as the HR manager, would overcome such resistance in a cost-effective manner. [20]
5. Briefly explain the internal and external factors to be considered when drawing up a human resource plan and discuss the importance of such a plan. [20]
6. In times of constraint/restraint, how would you ensure that the correct budgets be allocated for such training and development? Why would this be an important strategy? [20]
7. Leadership? Management? What are the key characteristics/traits that develop successful leaders and managers? Use examples of your choices. [20]
8. What creates/establishes successful teams? Give clear reasons for your choices. [20]
