many of his own soldiers in order for the mission to be complete. This decision pays off but Ender is told afterward that it was not a game and in fact it was a real battle he was commanding.
Ender learns a valuable lesson when the administration tells him that he was actually commanding a real military mission instead of just a simulation.
When they tell him this information he becomes very disgruntled and feels that they had taken advantage of him. He had developed a close relationship with the leader of the administration and felt betrayed. He learned that people can be very dishonest and take advantage of you if they feel it may better there situation. He learned this lesson the hard way.
The world of Ender differs in many ways from today’s world. Ender is monitored by a chip in his head. The administration put this chip into his head and can see what he is thinking. There is no technology like that today on Earth and likely won’t for a significant amount of time. In today’s world we do not have to fight off aliens, while in this book it is a very common thing. It is possible that one day our world will be like the world of Ender, but today is not that day.
Ender’s Game offers more than just a good story; it teaches a lesson. The reader is taught the same lesson that Ender was. People will lie and manipulate to get you to do things you may not want to do. This is apparent when the leader of the administration tells Ender it is only a simulation when in reality it was a real battle. Ender would not have done the things he did if he had known it was a real battle instead of a simulator. This is an important lesson the Ender and the reader both
learned.
A minor conflict in Ender’s Game, which added to the overall plot, was between Peter and Ender. The conflict between Peter and Ender was beyond a sibling rivalry. Peter was very jealous of Ender because Ender was chosen by the administration while Peter was not. This conflict was important to the plot because we gained a lot of information regarding Enders personality by the way he reacted toward Peter’s taunting. The author used this conflict to add depth to not only the plot but the character.
The author’s main purpose for writing this story was to teach the reader a valuable lesson about life. He wanted to entertain the reader as well, but this book shows how manipulative people can be. Ender is manipulated into fighting a battle when he believed he was running a simulation. The administration lied to Ender in hopes of getting what they desired from him. Their scheme worked and Ender was taught a valuable lesson. The author insured the reader understood this lesson by making an extreme and suspenseful plot.
