1. Detalied explanation of how smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors work.
How do smoke detectors work?
*Inside the smoke detector, there is a light and a sensor that is positioned at 90 degree angles to one another. When smoke gets inside the chamber, the particles of the smoke scatter the light and then a little bit of light hits the sensor. Once the sensor is hit, the siren then goes off to inform people that there may be a fire.
Where should smoke detectors be placed?
* On the ceiling of your roof
* 12 inches below the ceiling of your roof
* Bottom of your basement stairs
How do carbon monoxide detectors work?
* They sound an alarm each time they sense a certain amount of carbon monoxide over time in the air. There are different types of alarms that are triggered depending on different sensors. There are 3 main different types of sensors.
Where should carbon monoxide detectors be placed?
* Outside the doors of sleeping areas
* On each floor of your home
* Anywhere else that the local law requires it.

Overall, this collaboration project taught me many facts about fire safety that I did not know prior to beginning this project. I also learned that there are many different fire detectors that may be used for different occasions and different types of fires. Lastly, I learned that smoke detectors are not always supposed to be put on your ceiling, if not also on your
