Reading Response to “The Golden Arches Go Green: McDonald’s and Real Lettuce” “The Golden Arches Go Green: McDonald’s and Real Lettuce”, by Albert Lee, illustrates to the readers how McDonald persuaded the customers to eat more at McDonald through its 2004 summer advertisement. Albert Lee believes McDonald planned to improve its image, shifting from an unhealthy fast food restaurant chain to a friendly, wholesome diner. The sample paper perfectly analyzed every aspects of the McDonald’s advertisement, from the most obvious to the tiniest details.     I was born and raised in Aspen, Colorado so this book was a very interesting read for me. It was a definite page-turner and I could easily bust out 100 pages without having to look at the clock. I recognized all of the local spots around town he mentioned and made the message hit harder than it would have if I hadn’t known Aspen so well. It is amazing to think about how serious this climate change problem and how quickly it could reach critical mass. The population was becoming more worried and conscience about what they fed themselves and their families, and this, combined with the always-busy, modern-day society in need of quick meals, gives an opening for fast-food restaurants like Taco Time, Chipotle, and Taco Del Mar to spot light their greasy-burger-free, and sometimes organic, menus. In 2010 Chipotle released a commercial called “Scarecrow” showing an animated scarecrow witnessing the cruelness and fraud and of big food corporations, and then starting his own organic restaurant, which the audience assumes is Chipotle; all to the tune of “Pure Imagination” covered by Fiona Apple.
