One day when I was six years old my neighbor was in Middle School and she played softball and I saw her outside throwing a yellow ball to her dad and he would catch it and then throw it back to her. I was very curious about what her and her dad were doing because I thought it looked fun, and something I would enjoy doing. So I asked my parents what she was doing. They told me she was passing softball with her dad. And I said that I wanted to do that so my parents said to me if I actually really wanted to play softball that they would sign me up so I could start playing and learn how to play early so I would know when I get older if I really like it.
After that day my parents signed me up …show more content…
for softball. When it came to the day when the season was about to start I was very nervous because I knew nothing, and I knew no one on the team. So I was very scared because I knew nothing about softball or how it was played I just saw someone throwing a softball and thought it looked fun and wanted to play. I had the courage to go to practice that day and meet new people and learn new things and how the game of softball is played.
After softball the first day i was very proud of myself for first of all having the courage to get out of the house and try something new which would be trying softball.
I had a great time and learned new people and we really didn’t learn how to play the game of softball yet because it was only our first practice. But the coach of the team told us that the first practice of playing a sport most people on the team have never played you don’t learn how to play the entire game at once and definitely not on the first practice. The coach told the team that he wants us to get to know each other and get to know everyone and get to know little parts of the game of softball at once then he will start to teach us how the entire game of softball is played out, because at first he wants us to learn the major parts of the game like throwing and catching the ball. He also wants us to get to know the positions because he told us that the older you get you most likely will only play one position and you usually get to pick but at the young age of softball which I was at you can play anywhere because no one really understood the different positions and the purpose of any of them. He also told us about how he will teach us how to hit the ball with a bat when someone throws the ball and how you run around the bases if you hit the
ball.
Now nine years later I am still playing softball and it is my favorite thing to do outside of school or when I have nothing to do. Everything that my first coach taught me I still use while playing softball today because it is part of the game softball. MY favorite positions are pitcher and third base if i’m not pitching i'm always at third base. Another experience I have had with softball would be i was afraid to hit the ball after my second year of playing because I got hit really bad by someone pitching a softball and ever since that day I had a fear of getting hit again and would always back out of the batters box.
When I got to the older kids team I had one of the best coaches. He was the best coach I have ever had in my experience of playing softball. He would always give all his players advice and he cared about every single girl on the team. He didn’t care if you were the worst or best player on the team he would still try to make you a better player than you were when you started that softball season. He was also the reason I didn’t have a fear of hitting the ball anymore he made me feel confident and if I did get hit while batting it was okay. And after I started hitting I was put to bat fourth in the batting line up which means best hitter and the power hitter. After that I felt very accomplished and proud of myself. And I am happy I had the courage to play softball when I was little and hit again after getting hit really hard.
