Vegetarian Presentation
* First of all, we’d like to thank the lecturer for allowing us to present here. * My name is Maximillian and these are my colleagues Yohan and Rheza. We are from Max Agency and we are here to persuade you to become a vegetarian by presenting some reasons why should you become a vegetarian * About our agency, our Agency is a non profit organization, founded in 2009 based in Jakarta and have been persuading people to live healthier. * We believe some people may ask, what is a vegetarian? Vegetarian is a person who does not eat meat, and sometimes other animal products, esp. for moral, religious, or health reasons. * There are 3 main reasons why should you go vegetarian. For health, For animals, and for the planet. * Why for health? Well, everyone knows that vegetables are healthier than meat because meat causes some instability in our body like high blood presure, high cholestrole, and other factors. Meat also increase your risk to get a heart disease and other chronic disease like cancer. In other hand, vegetables is a risk-free food, nutritious and also consist the important dietary fibers for our body. It also decreases the risk of heart disease and cancer in our body. * It’s the single most effective way to prevent the progression of coronary artery disease. Why is that? Well basically by consuming red meat too much could cause our coronary artery to be clogged with cholestrol. This is bad as it causes the blood presure to be constantly high. By being a vegetarian there’s no substance in our blood that can clog the artery and that is why it’s healthier. * Animal meat nowadays also produced from factory farm which is the industrialized version of traditional farm. In this farm, animals are injected by special hormones to make them grow faster and bigger than normal animals which means more meat more profit for the farm. However the meat made by synthetic hormones is proven to be unhealthy as it could lead to obesity and cancer. Thats why it’s better to consume vegetables. * A study also showed that the vegetarians tend to have lower depression level and better mood profiles. This means vegetarians have a better quality of life than non vegetarians.

There are several components of meat that make it bad for health. Meat contains cholesterol, which elevates blood cholesterol. Elevation in blood cholesterol is linked to plaque or the substance known to clog arteries especially the thin delicate arteries that feed the heart muscles. Dr. William Castelli found that a low-fat plant based diet lowered and individual’s risk of a heart attack by 85%. Meat also contributes to osteoporosis. The consumption of meat acidifies the blood. In order to counteract the acidity, the body releases minerals from the bones. Unfortunately, this means that the bones suffer at the hand of meat. It’s reported by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition that individuals who converted to a vegetarian diet experienced 50% less bone loss. Meat, especially red meat, contains carcinogens – such as Neu5Gc, dioxin, and heterocyclic amines – that are linked to the growth of tumors…
