There has been more than one mass shooting a day in the United States since the start of 2015. A majority of these shootings have occurred at schools. I never thought that my small school in rural South Dakota would become part of this statistic but on September 30th of this year it did. Though the media tends to pay close attention to the shooters, they seem to forget about how this violence affects us, the youth, and the schools that we attend. Sure, I had seen plenty of documentaries on school shootings, but they all seemed like distant realities. The actuality of the situation was far worse.
