I am convinced that when Lincoln argued his point and continuously fought against slavery from a political position, he caught the attention of many average settlers, as well as important people that had a big say on the direction of our country. No, Lincoln did not win the election that would put him in the state Senate, but I think it's fair to say that he grew a lot from that point in time and his position as the president was much more beneficial to us. Without this series of events going the way that they did, the modern day version of America might be very different. Although I do not completely agree with the results of these debates, and I definitely think that Lincoln should have trumped over Douglas's points and I strongly disagree with the points that Douglas made, I can admit that I see what the results did for our country, and our lives, and it all had a purpose that was only clear to God until Lincoln would sign for the approval of the abolishment of slavery nearly ten years after the debates that started it all. In conclusion, the results of these debates had a large impact on the fate of our country and I'm glad that it ended up ending the way that it
