Why I Want To Become A State Officer
Hi, I'm Lili Thornock, a Junior at Roosevelt High School. I am an artist, a STEM student, and I am a highly active participant in FCCLA. It has been a passion of mine ever since I first joined.

One of my long term goals in FCCLA has been to one day become a state officer. I believe I will make a great State Officer for many reasons.
For one, I am a creative person who enjoys thinking outside of the box. If I were to be on the officer team, I could contribute new ideas to make the 2018-2019 FCCLA year one of a kind.

I am also famous for being an overachiever. I dedicate myself to every commitment I make, and try to go above and beyond expectations. FCCLA is no exception

Since early 2017, I have earned over 30 volunteer hours for concessions, event set ups, and have been featured in my town’s newspaper for raising $300 for the club.

I believe becoming a State Officer is the perfect opportunity for me to grow not just as leader, but as an individual. Being a State Officer will teach me things that can't be learned in class, such as how to be professional, responsible, and how to actively make a difference within my community.
Another reason I want to be a state officer is because I admire what they do. In previous years while attending state conferences, I would watch the way state officers performed uplifting and creative skits for fccla members. They easily interacted with others during workshops and inspired them to do their best, all while having fun.
State Officers also get to meet all kinds of new people, including their fellow Officers, who inspire them to work hard and reach their goals. I want to meet these different kinds of people, and learn as much as I can from them.
Most of all, I want to challenge myself. I want to see just what I can accomplish when I put my mind to it. I hope you consider me for 2018-2019 state

During the course of my high school career, I have developed a strong passion for the organization named the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA). FCCLA is a Career and Technical Student Organization that focuses on building students into better leaders for their families, careers, and communities. Furthermore, FCCLA teaches students practical skills that will be useful throughout their lifetimes. This organization has become an important part of my life because it has shaped me into the leader I am today. I began in the organization as a member and participant in competitive events, I have now worked my way up to being my chapter’s President and the Missouri State First Vice President. My leadership experience in FCCLA, especially my experience as a member of the Missouri State…

Throughout my academia, I have been a member of several clubs and organizations, but have yet to attend a free leadership and service conference. The National Society of Collegiate Scholars needs a free in-person event that hosts a multitude of workshops from becoming a better member, to becoming a better leader and more. This event should be a two-day weekend long including update meetings on how the organization is accomplishing its endeavors and goals in terms of membership count, influence in the community, and upcoming events. During a workshop, we could bring in experts to discuss how to become a better writer to increase our chances of earning NSCS scholarships and other scholarships. In another workshop, our members and club leaders…

Hello, I’m Caroline Woodle and I feel that I would be a propitious member of National Honor Society. This organization does an incredible job of recognizing students who are leaders in their communities. In my opinion, the most influential part of a person is their character. Activities such as competitive dance, FFA, and youth leadership events continuously reinforce my values of honesty and hardwork. Giving to and inspiring others are two of the most important parts of my life. Numerous Midwest mission trips revealed to me the responsibility and desire I have to serve others. During these work trips, my youth group and I met with dozens of people who had devastating stories of natural disasters that had completely destroyed their homes and…

“The greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.” Ronald Reagan’s words provide me with a vision and the motivation to serve others by equipping them with the tools needed to reach their full potential. I have always worked hard as a leader to inspire others. I understand that I must be bold enough to have my own vision but humble enough to recognize achieving it will take the efforts of many people. I believe that we must work to together to keep America strong and ensure freedom for future generations, and I believe this is done through great leaders. Once accepted to the Boy's State program I ran for and was ultimately elected Boy's State Treasurer. As the Boy's State Treasurer I spent a day shadowing the real Delaware State Treasurer whom I have remained in contact with to this day. During the five day experience I had a total of 10 hours of sleep due to staying up late to help others craft legislation and to ensure that said legislation was economically viable. Boy's State was by far the best program I have ever attended. I had the opportunity to meet other young, driven men from all across the state and get to develop friendships with them. At the end of Boy's State I was awarded a Good Citizen Citation by the American Legion. I also met State Senator Bryan Townsend whom I saw again when I delivered a speech about the benefits of GMOs at a Farm Bureau event. As a student I have maxed out the math courses at my school. Due to this I independent studied AP Calculus C over the summer through John Hopkins CTY online. During my senior year I will independent study Multi-Variable…

I am applying to study Operating Department Practice because I am very interested in pursuing a career where every day is different, and where I will be able to work in varied roles such as the anaesthetic role and the post-operative care role. I chose ODP because it is a challenging but rewarding job where I will be able to provide safe, effective care to vulnerable people whilst working within a multi-disciplinary team. I am also looking forward to volunteering at my local hospital in the summer holidays so that I have a feel of working within a hospital environment, where I can help care for vulnerable people and support the community. An ODP needs to have good communication and teamwork skills as they need to communicate with patients to put them at ease, and assess them before they go for surgery.…

The moment that signified my transfer into adulthood happened just recently. Since 8th grade, I have been a part of truly incredible academic-service organization called Beta Club. Beta Club has taught me the values of being a leader by serving others, and it is from this “servant's” mentality that has made me a better person. Moreover, it has given me countless leadership options as I served as my middle school Beta’s president. Then, I was elected as my high school’s chapter president, and this is where my moment of transition truly begins. Each year, the state Beta Club hosts a convention in Greensboro, where you can compete in events or run for state office. The state convention was like no other event I had participated in, and ever since I attended my first…

My name is Julia Troxell and I live in Algood, TN. I have been a Tennessee State Trooper for the past five years. I serve the sixth district which includes Putnam county and fourteen surrounding counties. The county I primarily work in is Putnam on the midnight shift. The job is very stressful yet rewarding. From a very young age I always knew I wanted to be involved with law enforcement. I chose the highway patrol because in my eyes they are the elite. They are no better than any other law enforcement agency, however they are held to a higher standard in comparison with a city or county agency. Professionalism, integrity and pride are demanded of all troopers in the state of Tennessee. I am going to explain how I got to where I am and some of my duties and responsibilities on a daily basis.…

Throughout my life, I have sought to do work that matters. I would often volunteer in community organizations and my local church, seeking ways to serve others. Until, I completed my undergraduate degree, my experience with the nonprofit sector dealt primarily with serving as a volunteer. Now, as I a paid staff member at a nonprofit, I realize that nonprofit work has a variety of benefits.
