Why Is Animal Testing Wrong
Animal testing is a hotly debated topic making people around the world evaluate and test their morals. It’s often considered unethical, cruel, ineffective, and outdated for our time. I'm here to prove to people why it’s not all bad. Animal testing brings wonderful things to us, new medication ,and new understandings of biology and behavior. Animals testing is often considered unmoral for a good reason. It hurts and causes animals to suffer, but that's typically not the case as David Pruce as chief of Understanding Animal Research states “The use of animals in research is never undertaken lightly. Every single animal research project must be approved by Home Office Inspectors who are all doctors and vets, and by local ethical review committees,”(Pruce). Researchers never go too far when experimenting on animals. Experimenters will do the bare minimum in mistreating animals because they have to go through a committee just to allow them to do the experiment. Experimenters also need funding for their experiments. Funding comes mostly from donors. “Funding organizations - including medical research charities - will only fund top quality, relevant research. No one wants to use animals in research, and no one uses them unnecessarily or uncaringly. Animal research is a last resort and is used alongside other types …show more content…
An argument from the opposite side would be that animal testing causes animals to suffer that maybe true ,but you also need to think about all the people suffering from diseases that animal testing can help them from their suffering wouldn’t it be more beneficial to save a person that has a purpose than a mice or monkey. Another argument for the opposing side would be that there are better methods to curing and understanding a disease. Animal testing is only used normally as a last resort if all other methods fail or are not getting fast enough

There are a lot of bad things that happen in this world and Animal Testing is one of them. Doctors,Scientists and other people test on these animals everyday. In my opinion there should be no animal testing at all. It is cruel. Right now there are millions of animals sitting in cold cages waiting for their next painful procedure. The stress, sterility and boredom causes them to develop neurotic behaviors such as, biting themselves and running around in circles. Most of these animals are killed after the testing because there is no possible way for them to live after this has happened. More than 100 million animals suffer this torture. Exact numbers have not been found, in rats, mice, birds, and cold blooded animals take up about 90 percent.…

Research shows that 26 million animals have been used for testing of all different kinds. 26 million animals have been put through wringer for the sake of a human. 26 million animals have had no say, defense, or chance to save themselves. Animals are used as human experiments to see if a certain product can work or not. Animal testing is wrong on many different levels. If humans are not willing to use, test and experiment on themselves, why should one be allowed to test on an animal who has no say in what happens.…

The first reason animal testing is not good, is that it harms animals. According to Ian Murna, after research the animals are killed. Animal testing gets animals sick. It gets animals sick because some of the drugs that the scientists use for animals may not be healthy for them (Animal testing 101). The world is so nervous about animals going extinct, then why do we use them for testing then? Animals are kept in small cages (Animal testing 101). Animals need to move around just like humans, how is that fair to them, animals have feelings just like humans.…

Animal testing has always been a big issue around the world. Some people think that it is okay for animals to be tested on while others don’t. What even is animal testing? Animal testing is where scientists find new medications and test them on the animals before humans. Why might scientists test them on animals first? So, that if something goes wrong, only the animal would suffer and not a human. I am a critic for animal testing. I believe that animals have a purpose to the world just as much as humans do. Even if people don’t like rodents, that doesn’t mean we need to try and potentially kill them. Animals are very important to this world just like everyone else.…

The vast majority of researchers take much responsibility caring for the animals they use and conduct their experiments humanely and with great sensitivity. They insure that animals don 't suffer needlessly and take good care of them. For example, in many research facilities, most animals that undergo surgery are given anesthesia first so they will be "asleep" during the surgery. The researchers are governed by more strict rules and regulations than any other profession that uses animals. Their practices are continually reviewed by local, state, and federal agencies. The approval process for animal experimentation is very thorough and is designed to insure the use of the fewest…

While I believe that animal testing is objectionable, others have arguments in support of tolerating animal testing. One of the strongest claims is that experimentation on animals with lower levels of rationality is more acceptable, compared with species of high mental capacities. According to John Stuart Mill in his book On Liberty, individuality is necessary for “human happiness” and “individual and social progress” (Mill, 1869, 65). While some may argue that this statement is only valid for the human condition, I do think it is applicable to animals that have a certain amount of rationality. For less rational species that do not have the ability to develop their autonomy, it is more acceptable for them to be tested on.…

Millions of animals are used every year for a wide variety of scientific and medical purposes. Some of this scientific research is to learn about and improve the welfare of animals, but most of the animal experiments are unfortunately conducted for human benefits. An estimated eight million animals are used in painful experiments, which can range from getting pricked with a needle to more severe experiments, and ten percent of these animals do not receive painkillers. Then after all of the pain that they had been put through, some of them are euthanized when scientists are no longer in need of experimenting on them. Animal rights advocates want government agencies to impose heavy restrictions on animal research, but their opposition of painful animal experimentation is matched by the growing concern that these restrictions would pose a threat to scientific progress. Although there has been scientific progress from this, animal testing is still cruel, immoral, and unnecessary because all animals, like humans, have value and are worthy of being treated with respect.…

Animal testing is cruel. In conclusion, it needs to be stopped. As previously stated, we are hurting animals when there are other ways to go about it. Animals are living, breathing creatures that have rights and should be protected. They don’t deserve to be hurt anymore than we do. For example, they can feel pain, and sadness just like we can, so in what way does it make it right to harm them for our own benefit. That makes us selfish and rude. Animal testing is cruel, and mean, and needs to come to an…

Animal testing is bad because it deals with the issue of animal cruelty. It is often argued that these tests cause a lot of pain to the animals and the condition in which they are held captive for experimentation is not at all safe nor healthy for the animals. It also causes animals suffer for the rest of their lives and then they die. This means that afterwards animals aren’t any more active in doing their own things because all of them get locked and stay in cold, barren cages in laboratories and so therefore they can do nothing. But on the other hand there are some people who say testing animals is a good idea because both animals and humans benefit for animals getting experimented…

My first point of why animal testing is an unethical process is based on some of the brutal things that happen in the process of the testing. According to an online article titled "Animals Used for Experimentation | PETA.org", certain types of animals are used for different types of experimentation. Some well known animals that are used for testing are cats, dogs, mice, rats, hamsters, guinea pigs, gerbils, sheep, llamas, cattle, owls, deer, monkeys, and other primates. These are not, by any means, all of the animals that researchers use. These are only the most common.…

Many people believe animal testing is bad and scientists abuse animals. However would you rather have humans tested on instead? Animal testing helps humans live longer and stay healthy. Have you ever been so terrified that you couldn’t think? The novella Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck follows George and Lennie, two travelling farm hands. George is a clever guy with an almost parental authority over the physically powerful but childlike Lennie. Lennie follows George and only George’s instructions. Lennie’s handicap blinds him to what is actually happening. Because of his mental deficit, and because he is unable to understand the world around him, Lennie should not be held responsible for his actions.…
