All the time people have debated if school should really start later. From debate.org, a survey says that 67% agree that school should not start later, while only a small 37% are in favor of school starting later. It may seem like it's a good idea, and there is some good reasons, but not everything works out that way. The goal of this paper is to show people why school should not start later.
First and foremost, students who participate in extracurricular activities may have to cancel or change their whole schedule. If school started and ended later, teens may not leave until 6 or 7 o'clock at night from school. Then students won't get home till 10 o’clock at night from sports, dance class, etc. Therefore, when the activities start later students get less amounts of sleep. It just defeats the main idea of school starting later. Next, this means the community has to change their schedules to still have people coming to classes or whatnot. Furthermore, this raises the question, “What about students who provide child care to younger siblings?” Now parents have to change their schedule too, and accommodate for a new babysitter for younger children. …show more content…
One of the biggest lessons is time management. Teens can learn how to get ready at an early start time in the morning. If students can’t get up early in the morning, how will they be prepared for the work force? Plenty of jobs require early start times. Teens learn how to manage under low amounts of time and under amounts of stress for later on in life. Small lessons are learned each day from early start
