There are many different ways to look that this situation and have different opinions on it. Experts say that tweens and teens need a minimum of at least 8 hours of sleep or they could be effected in a bad way. “ The American Academy of Sleep Medicine[221 KB] recommends that teenagers aged 13 to 18 years should regularly sleep 8 to 10 hours per day for good health. Adolescents who do not get enough sleep are more likely to Be overweight. Not engage in daily physical activity. Suffer from symptoms of depression. There are some important facts that show the disadvantages of changing school times to a later time, for example. “ Academics from Surrey University and Harvard Medical School … argue that delaying school times would simply cause most teenagers’ internal clocks to drift later, and in a matter of weeks they would find it just as hard to get out of bed”. This makes sense because if kids knew that they didn't have to wake up as early as they do to go to school then most kids would end up staying up later and later until they get to the point where their brain thinks that waking up at say 10 AM is too early and people would be back in the same predicament.
There are other big reasons that starting school later cold start a problem, such as. “It becomes difficult to schedule sports practice and extra-curricular activities.
It is difficult to squeeze academic schedules, sports events and extracurricular activities into available daytime hours if schools started later.” This could cause outrage in student and parents, if there is not enough daytime after school to pay a daytime sport then this could mean that the school may have to cut the activity which may cause anger in the community. Also if only one school in the area changes its school start time then tis can cause major problem also because whenever there is a game where one town plays another town right after school this can mess up
