Hello, this is Jen Wilhite from the Lee's Summit North Yearbook staff. I wanted to follow up on the yearbook ad information that we talked about a few weeks ago. Lately there have been a lot of break-ins and armed robberies in Jimboomba by ‘teenagers’. They’ve been demanding money from store clerks, some with knifes, baseball bats, and anything in between. To be honest I do not find the joy in doing such a thing, I believe that if you work hard enough to earn a living you will feel as if you have done well in this life and honestly I wouldn’t feel good knowing I have someone else’s hard earned money all to myself. I know that some of the crimes committed aren’t so bad, but the teens should be punished to learn from their mistakes, I believe that by doing so it will cause the community to feel safer and engage the government to make Jimboomba a better place to live.…
Osama Bin Laden is considered to be the most wanted face of terrorism; the main face of the Al Qaeda group and worst terrorist in American history. After his worst event he put together: 9/11, Bin Laden went into hiding for 10 years: 2001-2011. On May 2, 2011 Bin Laden was found and killed by the US Government. From being a sweet boy to a killer, Bin Laden’s views on muslim beliefs became more dangerous than it should’ve been. Being an apprentice to a man, Abdullah Azzam, Bin Laden learned the key essentials to being a member of a muslim brotherhood, helping be the creator of Al Qaeda, and becoming the face of terrorism through the entire world.…
Joyce Carol Oakes’s short story, “Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been?” was written in 1966 and twenty years later was made into a movie entitled Smooth Talk, winner of the 1985 U.S. Film Festival for best dramatic picture. The writing by Oates is loosely based on a true story described as “the tale of Charles Schmid, a twenty-three-year-old who cruises teenage hangouts, picking up girls for rides in his gold convertible” (Johnson 160). I say “loosely based” since the author purposely omits facts that she has read in newspaper and magazine articles, facts that would lend humanness to the demonic nature of a man she has cleverly and ironically named Arnold Friend. The producer of Smooth Talk, as is often the case, also takes detours from the road of reality by further developing the characters of Connie’s mother, father and older sister, June. The reader/viewer might have a tendency to question then just what is true and what is not; it hardly matters, since both are a departure from the truth. The movie’s and the story’s description of young Connie are similar. Connie is described by the author as an attractive fifteen year old who “had a quick, nervous giggling habit of craning her neck to glance into mirrors” (Oates 148) and who wore clothing “that looked one way when she was home and another way when she was away from home” (Oates 149). The movie, starring blonde Laura Dern as Connie, depicts a teen who glances frequently in store-shop windows to view her image, a young person with “two things on her mind, boys and how she looks” (Smooth Talk cover).…
On the morning of September 11,2001 nineteen men hijacked four planes. Only hours later 2,977 innocent people were killed. Have you ever wondered what a criminal mastermind could contribute to a society? I thought about the same thing when I saw Osama bin Laden’s name on the list of people to choose for this project. This is the main reason why I picked Osama bin Laden for my report. I wanted a challenge, not an easy look up in two seconds type of research report. Osama bin Laden actually did contribute a few things to our society, not to give him credit, but he did indeed contribute something. “No man has had a greater impact on American culture in the 21st century than Osama bin Laden.” (One-man show:How Osama bin Laden). This…

or poor, even conservative and liberal” ( Barack Obama 118). This is mean we should love each other like brothers and sisters lives in one house, do not be racist just because they have different skin colors or never be disregard them just because they are poor people. We must and have to help people that they are need our help because helping people is a chance to helping you to In the course of A Dream Fulfilled: The Story of Barack Obama, Barack Obama delivers three important speeches. One important speech Obama delivers is “ Understand - I’m not ashamed of being half Kenyan. I don’t ask myself a lot of questions about what is all means. About who I really am.”( Barack Obama 80). I disagree with California Ban on the word ‘Redskins.” I disagree because Native Americans are the only one making it a bad name. No one else is using Redskins in a bad way or even thinks of it in a bad way. All reskins means is that someone skin has a red tint. It’s names of many schools and some famous sports teams and they shouldn’t have to change their name because Native Americans think of it in a bad way. Everyone who has had to change their name because of California ban should get to change it back. Schools and sorts teams now have to change their mascot, their name and if it’s a school they might even have to change their company. I disagree with California’s ban and I’m sticking with that.…
Even the most famous of sports stars need medical intervention when their hips fail, and Pele the soccer star is an example of this. He has just had corrective surgery for a replacement hip received in 2012. A replacement hip means that after recovery you can once again live a pain-free existence and walking will be a lot easier, but you're not immediately going to be able to leap out of bed after surgery and run laps around the hospital ward. Physiotherapy is going to help you put your best foot forward with your new hip, so what does that mean for you exactly?…

3. A report from Alberta’s Workplace Health and Safety confirms the death of a young landscaper working for the city of Edmonton, was caused by a distracted driver who never seemed to realize she had hit him. The landscaper was working on a clear and sunny day on July 24 when a Honda Civic crashed into him. According to witnesses, the young man was clearly visible. Some said the woman was holding a cell phone and seemed to be texting before getting out of her car. “The driver did not even know that she had crushed a landscape worker. There…
PTSD or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a psychiatric disorder that can occur following the experience or witnessing of life-threatening events such as the military combat, natural disasters, terrorism incidents, or any major tragedy. This is common in the life of veterans and is the leading cause of suicide among veterans. A VA patient who survived in Baghdad shares his experience with PTSD and explains how he knew he had this disability. Many veterans speak out about this issue and describe their continuous anger, alcohol addiction, and constantly wanted to fight. They usually feel very isolated and distant from their loved ones. One patient states, “PTSD involves rocketing into extreme states of stress re-activity; in the form of terror, rage, and uncontrollable impulses, and plunging into equally extreme states of being shut-down—exhaustion, emotional numbing, despair, and dissociation”. PTSD is about having fear and anxiety, allowing veterans to rage with anger and different emotion. There are many factors to PTSD, which affects others in different ways; or example, using video games to keep them occupied, spending money due to the lack of impulse control because of changes in their brain, and even not obtaining another job.…
